I'm making the minimap atm but in doing so I think I've found a couple of issues.

1. I think you can gate on top of some of the terrain walls. The minimap_screenshot command showed green areas on top of some of these areas.
2. Not sure if this is an issue but it's not perfectly "symetrical". I created the inner walls of the minimap with solid rectangles and thought I could do one side then copy it and rotate 180 degrees. However the two sides aren't similar.

I agree that this does look interesting though. For a square map it's good looking.

If I am using TS textures not sure why that matters. I picked them out of the catergory "snow" and "terrain_grassroads" so Id be suprised if I was. Thanks for looking into it NamedNubcake. Ill have to see about walls being climbable. I cant imagine which ones are but ill look into it. I know it probably isnt PERFECTLY symetrical because I did make it by hand. Im interested in how youre copying an entire side of a map though ive never seen that feature.

Well if you're making a map like this, it's a good idea to use the merge terrain method. In case you don't know it's basically you make a grayscale heightmap in photoshop, export as png, import it into graveyard. If you decide to make another map like this it'll be useful

Yeah ive used merge terrain plenty of times in the past just found that it wasnt very useful for creating hills and specific high things. I usually just used that for basic walling. However when I did this map I didnt use it at all because it was one of the only times where I came up with the idea as I went along.

you can also always merge terrain and then play around with it, adjusting hills and slopes as you like or adding paths or what ever.

so nubcke is saying as a hieght map, make one side of map then rotate 180 degrees and then merge terrain. that way you get a near perfectly semetrical space layout
