Viewing Bug #261: Textures not displayed on old graphics cards! | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Category | Savage Client | Posted By | Django | Last Updated | Jan 24, 2010 |
Assigned to | Mohican | Status | Confirmed | Priority | Ultra High |
Affected Products | XR Windows, XR Linux | ||||
Description | Textures are not display when using an old graphics card that do not support shader model 2.0 or higher. This means old computers that are playable on SFE are not playable with XR and the current Minimum Requirements are incorrect. We do not want to limit our user base in anyway shape or form if we can help it. Here is an out take from a debug.log an effected computer: ==== START LOG SNIPPET ==== OpenGL: Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL: Renderer: GeForce4 MX 440/AGP/SSE2 OpenGL: Version: 1.5.7 ... -------------------------------------- - initializing GLSL - Detecting supported Shader Model..... - Shader Model 0 detected - Sorry, no GLSL for you. (old card?) ==== END LOG SNIPPET ==== |

I'm having the same issues.
After the auto-updating it displays a white screen with the welcome to newearth message in the bottom left corner. The only way to quit out of it is to killall silverback.bin from another tty. Now I realize that this is kind of a necro post, but I really would like for this to be fixed. I have run savage xr in windows on this computer with no issues, but I can't get it to work in linux. I've tried it under Arch and Mint with the same results. |

I Have the same issue on my old stationary comp. Savage 1.0 is only playable with graphics on low there... if higher graphics, textures dissapear.

It is the only one multiplayer game that I can play. It has no equal!!! But most of the time I have access to a PC with old video card (GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 8x). Textures are not displayed, as was said in this forum. This is a dramatic and very sad
