Hey, i've been configuring my own server for a while now, and i don't seem to be able to get the admin part correctly.

I have searched the forums here and googled alot, but no success.

My problem is that i can't log in as admin on my server after i start the server up, i'm new to configuring servers.
I can log in as referee and god referee, tho not as admin.

In my server.cfg file i got:
set svr_adminpassword "the password"     (same command as i've seen other people use on their servers)

once i activate the server, logging in to the server, open console, writing cl_adminpassword "the password", it says that the password is "the password",  then i try /refpwd "the password", and it just says invalid pw.

What is wrong?

I've been reading through Groentjuh's guide on the forums several times,  it just contains a few things, i wish there were a list with everything on it.
It just wont let me log in as admin.

Also don't seem to be able to get commands to work in the cfg files.

Googled several times and found websites wich got finished server configurations, and they write that i can simplt copy it and paste into the server.cfg to make it work, but no, it's not working at all, none of them works.

I really got no clue what's wrong, and there is not much more i can do about it then wait for someone to reply with any ideas.

All i've done is to follow instructions how to set up an own server, i've managed to do so, and people can join it, but i really need to configure it.
The tutorials i've followed also tells me that i can simply copy the commands on that page and paste them into the cfg files i got, such as the server one, and i have tried it several times, yet they wont work.

sorry, don't have time at the mo for a full answer, couple of pointers

admin password is not the refpwd, you need to set a godref password.

command is set sv_refGodPassword godrefpassword

You put your password here in quotes "" - don't think that works, spaces certainly won't

for servers you need to edit the SEP.cfg file assuming you are using SFE server.

Will check in later to see if that helped at all.

admin password?

write this in chat:

/cl_adminpassword THEPASSWORD

while THEPASSWORD is the chosen admin password

to see if it works try writing /svcmd svchat TEST
you should see a TEST in the chat now

they do have more. I always wondered why they don't have their own /admin command but it's still useful. Once you're into sav servers you will start to love them I think! Smiley

As pointed out, admins are not like (god-)refs. They use the command "/svcmd <command>" to preform commands on the server. This allows you to mute, kick and do most if not everything a (god-)ref can do. It also allows you to modify the server configuration.
god-ref usually has enough power, so as admin you may often find yourself doing most of the in-game actions with god-ref.

As for the tutorial I wrote, it's not made for XR server.
XR servers has no server.cfg and no SEP.cfg. The correct place for your XR server configuration is XR_admin.cfg. This file will exist and will contain a whole list with commands and their meaning(template server config). When updating your XR server, updated templates will be put in XR_admin.template.
