This thread is hilarious! I once again have to thank Newerth for making me laugh harder than anything else in the last two weeks
Short clarification: It's my fault and stayed this long period of time by accident. It automatically got reverted during the daily server restart at 6 AM GMT (since it wasn't implemented in the configuration files).
Slightly longer: I created a preset of settings reducing siege->unit damage and increasing siege->building damage which I apply to make long pointless stalling games end more naturally and faster. Usually I deactivate it right after the game or at latest when I leave the server, but this time yesterday I forgot. Siege versus unit damage is reduced to 200 points of damage per hit, siege versus building damage is buffed by 30%.
(By the way, it often works pretty well; the game becomes more enjoyable (imo) and the frontier unfreezes and starts to move again. It works best when I'm not visibly present and the siege people can't start a riot and just silently switch units without much moaning instead
If there ever was any permanent change like this to happen it would of course be properly announced and discussions would take place prior to it. I'm not gonna lose any word about the "Donators betrayed!!!1" stuff, I stayed out of it so far and won't start the discussion again.
As much fun as this thread was to read, and as hard it is now for me to say "sorry"; I'm going to be more careful and this probably won't ever happen again.
[on a side note: a balance change forcing people to change their behaviour in the game (e.g. to cover siege units properly and moving as cluster) is not a bad thing - it is in fact the sole goal of a balance change]
