pretty much as stupid as a ballista shooting to the sides.(when the only logical way for the arrow to shoot is straight forward in the same arch.
ye thats stupid too , same as reducing the damage of a big arrow hitting you in the face, preds are no new supermans  Cheesy

as i've said before, its not the siege thats the problem its

1) the maps
2) the players

most siege whores cant kill players using a normal unit, its when there is too much gold that someone dies and can retake siege straight away
get rid of monkits/mudents/bearloths next to SH/Lair

the players that do it are fags, bans should have been enforced ages ago,
how is harry potter even allowed to play on the server lol

by looking at this thread it seems that the main ones whining about the change are the siege whores

im against decrease in siege damage

This thread is hilarious! I once again have to thank Newerth for making me laugh harder than anything else in the last two weeks Cheesy

Short clarification: It's my fault and stayed this long period of time by accident. It automatically got reverted during the daily server restart at 6 AM GMT (since it wasn't implemented in the configuration files).

Slightly longer: I created a preset of settings reducing siege->unit damage and increasing siege->building damage which I apply to make long pointless stalling games end more naturally and faster. Usually I deactivate it right after the game or at latest when I leave the server, but this time yesterday I forgot. Siege versus unit damage is reduced to 200 points of damage per hit, siege versus building damage is buffed by 30%.
(By the way, it often works pretty well; the game becomes more enjoyable (imo) and the frontier unfreezes and starts to move again. It works best when I'm not visibly present and the siege people can't start a riot and just silently switch units without much moaning instead Smiley)

If there ever was any permanent change like this to happen it would of course be properly announced and discussions would take place prior to it. I'm not gonna lose any word about the "Donators betrayed!!!1" stuff, I stayed out of it so far and won't start the discussion again.

As much fun as this thread was to read, and as hard it is now for me to say "sorry"; I'm going to be more careful and this probably won't ever happen again.


[on a side note: a balance change forcing people to change their behaviour in the game (e.g. to cover siege units properly and moving as cluster) is not a bad thing - it is in fact the sole goal of a balance change]

f.e. I didnt know about the +30% building damage (cause I must admit that I didnt reach any building in the time I was a siege yesterday).

Itīs completely true that sieges SHOULDNT need some self-protecting weapon.
But infact (those who are good - run away from teamwork jobs / those who cover siege units are newbs with hunting bow / even if you cover a ballista in a good way - you canīt do much against a frenzy-saccer with some skill) this just doesnīt work.

We could test this - we could change things - but not like this happened yesterday Smiley

As funny as this thread is the fact that this whole problem was just a mistake Wink
