Just a thought, hear me out.

For the next NSL, we could like make 6 or 8 teams that are from different clans. I still gotta work out the details, but I reckon this idea could be very fun. This is because:
1) Not everyone has a clan
2) Some people with a lot of potential might become a bit more recognized
3) It promotes the real CW kind of play some of the better clans have
4) It could open eyes for new strategies
5) It's cool to play with mates from other clans

Now this obviously asks for some restrictions regarding to how many people from (say for example) DeMo can be in one team. This is to prevent DeMo from making an all DeMo team. Give me your thoughts about this; I'm willing to set this up.

The first thing we need is about 7 more commanders, as I'm clearly going to be commanding one team as well. Any decent takers here?

yeah that's a cool idea, been thinking the same kind of stuff earlier.

- How big teams did youplan to create? ( we are about 14EU clans in NSL ) so the teams might grow up a bit? 15 vs 15 etc.
- in my opinion team picking should be made by several Teamleaders? just a thought.

I think its confusing the way you describe it. But you mean on top of NSL you want PUG competition with predefined teams?

We had one for the USA like last year.

It went pretty well until every team basically went inactive and stopped scheduling games. I think my team got like one game played, and thats it.

As much as I like the idea, I really doubt that it will be successful. Seeing the problems that regular clans sometimes had to field their teams, I don’t think that this will work for a long time. Espec. if this PUG-NSL is being held at the same time as the regular clan-based NSL.

So what about modifying this idea into one or two PUG teams participating in the regular NSL. The only limitation would be that players from a clan can’t play against their own clan. So the teams would need to be big enough to compensate that.

I assume this idea was conceived to be a solution to the fact that two EU clans dominated the first NSL season. That happened simply because most of the other clans are new to the competition. I think we need to give them some more seasons to learn the finer points of Savage and become more experienced teams. Splitting them up won't accomplish that, this is one of those issues that simply needs time, not a quick fix.

Just my opinion.

Normal PUG.
Just comms got win or lose or draw. Count them.
like edb vs Crash: Draw
edb 0 1 0
Crash 0 1 0

The point was comms getting counted the wins, not the whole team. Let PUG be as it is.

Edb you are making like "several clan's" Clan to play PUG, which in this case is NOT a PUG anymore.

Anyway, Good Luck. Smiley

hmmm - that sounds like a nice idea Smiley

"commander PUG NSL":
- a set group of commanders play eachother
- no fixed teams, they get "recruited" within the week prior to the match
- just a few regulations regarding teams (e.g. max of 3 players from one clan)
- ladder and point system as it is and as DC has it in his post

Then we should get people from active clans or really active random people.

A good idea, but a seperate PUG and NSL is better imo. A pug-nsl would be harder to organise and to play as well as during a normal CW. It takes a while before people can play well enough together, even within a clan, so playing with other people each week will be to confusing and will result in something like a normal PUG.
If you think about it, all points made in this topic can be realised in a PUG orNSL, so making a mix of this will be ki8nd of useless and will only decrease the playing level imo.
