Right, you all know that I've had bad lag problems, this was due to what I and others believed to be cause of no gfx card!

Well, new card, and the lag still lingers!

I believe it is something to do with my "system idol process" as this seems to be using alot of my CPU, about 60 ish
I'm not sure, help anyone?

'system idle process' is what the free cpu capacity is called; anything it uses actually isn't used and can be used by other processes Wink

Have you scanned your pc  for root kits, viruses etc that could be using cpu time without you knowing? What exactly are your pc specs? When does your performance drop happen?

At the minute, I'm having trouble even getting onto a desktop, install is having problems!
Then it says a few .dll files are messed up
Drop happens after about 5 minutes of playing Savage, or any game for that matter, CS 1.6 does the same quite badly
I did a full system scan with AVG with the newest file definitions but found nothing, I'm yet to try AdAware, cause my comp died!

PC spec

ASUS M2V-TVM Mobo
AMD AM2 4600+ X2
1.5gb DDR2 RAM
nVidia 7600GT 256mb

Maybe there's a cat stuck inside your pc. Try opening it with a screwdriver.

It's not a joke, I had this once and it smelled really bad!

Yeh try cleaning the inside of your pc cause to reduce the temperature within it. Also try a complete fresh reinstall on windows and install a AV program straight away. Once you've got that sorted stay away from those dodgy porn sites and download a stress tester like this. Then try testing games on it once it passes the stress test after 4-8hours.

If the stress test fails download memtest and restart your pc insert the image you burnt of it and do a test for several hours if it fails its your ram thats fucked if not its your cpu.

k, in windows click start then run, type CMD then press enter, you will get the command box open. Then Type

ping -t www.newerth.com

Let it run for a time, notice the normal response time and look out for spikes.
