Hello Savage Community!

There's only one week left until the Savage Demo Competition hits its deadline (3rd June 2012).
If you have good human or beast gameplay, don't be afraid to submit it. There's a lot of cash to win.

Beast thread: http://www.newerth.com/smf/index.php/topic,14747.0.html
Human thread: http://www.newerth.com/smf/index.php/topic,14748.0.html
Duel thread: http://www.newerth.com/smf/index.php/topic,14749.0.html

The purpose of this thread is to make all submitted demos easy accessible to everyone, so you can give feedback which demos you like most and why, and you can check if your own demos can compete with the already submitted gameplay.

Submitted demos in 3 categories:

----------------------------------------
Due to popular request, the Demo Comp deadline will get expanded until this Sunday evening, 3rd June 2012.

I will rise the price for the best duel demo to 80$.

And there's going to be a second option:
You are allowed to play either Beasts or Humans.
The price for each demo is 40$.
But as long as not both, a good Beast and a good Human demo, are submitted, the Human/Beast-combo demos will have a higher chance to win.

PS: Please only record with accounts that have no custom items attached.

Beast Gameplay

Beast Demo 01

Skill/Teamplay: Clanwar with solid teamplay, strong opponent, amazing frostbolts part, good temp aim, amazing summoner skills (has team support most of the time), awesome pred, very accurate sac timing, good situational awareness
Variety: Mining (only 30 seconds), going for workers as a team, Nanaa showing how to kill a Mudent with headjumps, Scouting, they don't seem to use TS (everything written in chat ftw), scav/stalk melee, Pred (4 minutes a bit too short), frostbolts, tempest, rabid, carn, sac, summoner (7 minutes was a bit too long though), teammate using mist, stormshield, NPC farming kept to a minimum (45 s), supporting behe action from team mates, various areas of the map are shown
Aesthetics: Snowblind has a unitque atmosphere, but trees are extremely ugly and need to be replaced before the XR 1.0 release, beautiful mouse work connecting very well with the unit animations and weapon/item switch, the mouse isn't shaky a single time, buggy hiding in the snow tunnel object, overuse of summoner brings the pacing a lot down
Quality: Good. No network issues, except Hwoa lagging a bit when he's being spectated.
Community Guidelines: Hwoa saying: "GO FOR STRICKER HE SUX BALLS" (a bit suboptimal), but everything else is fine

Beast Demo 02

Skill/Teamplay: Pub gameplay, weak stalker, but good pred, mostly good tactical decisions, ok aim
Variety: Building, monkit farming and pmining for 4 minutes (a no-go in my opinion), then attacking a wall with summoner for another 1.5 minutes, no scavenger combat, tempest, blazing sieges, lots of pred action using various items, gates going up, building outposts, summoner, behe gameplay, various areas of the map are shown
Aesthetics: Very technical melee style, a bit clumsy at times, mouse spin time is too fast too look good with the unit animations, cool behe part together with teammate, map itself is average looking, grimm walls suck
Quality: Good.
Community Guidelines: Denisa shittalking, people complaining about camping and behespawn

Beast Demo 03

Skill/Teamplay: Pub gameplay, building outpost, good frostbolt aim, solid stalker melee and temp aim, nice summoner skills, nice teaming up as scavs and summs, "even team" vote by Denisa let the viewer know that it's was probably an unfair match (whether it's true or not is irrelevant), epic finishing sac - all in all a rush gameplay demo without any counter attacks
Variety: Initial building and mining for only 30 seconds (great), straight going for back door, building sublair alone (a bit boring), frostbolts, attacking workers together and going for buildings, stalker melee, tempest, a lot of commaner and general voice spam (adds intensity), carn, sac, no preds, no behes, only attacking one way (demo was a bit too short)
Aesthetics: Great looking map, unfortunately only showing the ugliest part of it for the most time, mouse movements are solid
Quality: Good.
Community Guidelines: Good.

Beast Demo 04

Skill/Teamplay: Pub gameplay, weak opponent, nice scav melee skills, going for workers, nice frost bolt aim, nice dodging tower arrows, solid pred melee, good sac timing, getting shield down with summoner
Variety: Scav melee, team mates pmining, frost bolts, carn, rabid only (too much rabid farming), no tempest, team mate using behemoth, sac, blaze to damage the shield, summoner, fire buff - all in all a one man army demo without much contributions from team mates
Aesthetics: Map looks okay, middle part is ugly, but has bugs which are seen multiple times in the demo (players - also Haze - getting stuck, which is a no-go in my opinion), nice and fluent mouse movements, connecting well with the unit animations
Quality: Good.
Community Guidelines: 2 kick votes in the begin of the match, Hwoa shittalking: "his mum got little boobies, was boring to fuck her", A shittalking as well, Players exploiting and Haze crying "KICK, KICK, KICK. CHEAT, WAS NOT ALLOWED, 3Dman complaining about lag, zanzi complaining clumsy being lame and he being stuck and team 2 winning due to map bugs, Hwoa vote in the end: "I like big dicks". (this demo is a total no-go from a community point of view).

Beast Demo 05

Skill/Teamplay: Clanwar gameplay with nice teamplay, strong opponent, good tempest and blaze aim, nice goup saccing, solid weapon tactics, scouting, pred was okay, not much melee gameplay in general - all in all very positional and defensive gameplay, i.e. defending subs more than attacking the base (a bit boring and long)
Variety: farming monkits, ember, scav (no melee), stalker, tempest, summoner, blaze, pred, teammate with behe, group saccing - all in all no one sided match, many attacks and counter attacks
Aesthetics: Unique map design and atmosphere, shaky mouse movement in the beginning (getting better later), bad stamina management make the pred looking clumsy at times,
Quality: microlags (seen best during leaping)
Community Guidelines: Good

Human Gameplay

Human Demo 01

Skill/Teamplay: Clanwar gameplay, solid teamplay and strong opponent, building, mining, decent xbow aim, average discharger aim, mostly good fluxing, nice summ block
Variety: 1.5 minutes walking, building and mining (that's okay), then defending with xbows against rush sub, bow, discharger, flux (a bit too much of it though), savage, lego, tech gets destroyed several times but humans manage to recover (thrilling match), the whole 15 minutes of the demo are shown on the southern part of the map - while the main action was in the northern part (boring and repetitive at times and hard to follow the overal progress). The match would have been very exciting otherwise. (Having someone elses perspective from this match would be good.)
Aesthetics: Snowblind has a unitque atmosphere, but trees are extremely ugly and need to be replaced before the XR 1.0 release, solid mouse work.
Quality: Good.
Community Guidelines: Good.

Human Demo 02

Skill/Teamplay: Pub gameplay, average skilled opponent, great aim with all weapons and intense melee action, good situational awareness
Variety: Going directly for the flag, awesome nomad & bow action, savage, lego, as much flux as coil, teammates with ballistas and mmbows, pretty much the whole map is shown - not the same area over and over, opponents using sac and blaze, Beasts capturing the flags back again and again make the gameplay fast paced and interesting, epic final backdoor balli rush
Aesthetics: Great looking map, many areas are shown, solid mouse work, cons: using an account with custom items enabled
Quality: Good, with exception of one single client side lag
Community Guidelines: Occasional whining, otherwise good.

Human Demo 03

Skill/Teamplay: Pub gameplay, average skilled opponenst, nice nomad and bow action, mining, decent xbow, good discharger, grenades, flux, good demo runs, decent ballista action, epic nomad vs pred - team loosing in the end (a total no-go)
Variety: nomad, bow, mining, xbow, discharger, grenades, flux, Savage, Lego, demo running, coil, ballista - match was way too long and demo file too big
Aesthetics: Good looking map, solid mouse work, cons: using an account with custom items enabled
Quality: Good
Community Guidelines: Good

Human Demo 04

Skill/Teamplay: Clanwar gameplay with solid teamplay, strong opponent, building, pmining, good xbow aim, very good flux aim, good coil, homewrecking with elec buffs and demos, final rush with ballista.
Variety: building and pmining for 50 second (that's okay), bow, xbow, discharger, savage, flux, ballista, disrupters, lego, coil, demo
Aesthetics: Unique map design and atmosphere, good mouse movements.
Quality: Good
Community Guidelines: Good

Human Demo 05

Skill/Teamplay: Clanwar gameplay with solid teamplay, strong opponent, building, pmining, nice blocking with savage, going for workers, nice imobilizing against buffed pred, using sensors, great pushing with ballista from offensive garrisons, killing spire with nomad, good demo runs
Variety: building and pmining for 2 minutes - interupted by bow action - (rather high), bow, xbow, flux, savage, sensors, imob, lego, coil, ballista, demo runs - in the begin mostly going solo, but towards the end more teamplay, very varied gameplay with use of all important items.
Aesthetics: Nice map, solid mouse work, middle map path is very dark, reloc animation bug, needing multiple attempts to get over the research center while the view is hidden by tree leafs.
Quality: Good
Community Guidelines: Good

Human Demo 06

Skill/Teamplay: Pub Gameplay, weak opponents, building garrison at 2nd and instantly going to attack, great xbow aim, killing workers, nice homewrecking with combat units and ballista
Variety: nomad, building, bow, crossbow, downsizing (also with disrupter), homewrecking, savage, flux, almost killing himself with a disrupter, killing tower with elec buff, ballista, spectating players that demorun,
Aesthetics: Nice looking map, good mouse movements
Quality: Good
Community Guidelines: Random whining in global chat from specs, map and commanding electing/impeach votes in the middle of the game

Duel Gameplay

Duel Demo 01

Demo doesn't meet minimum requirements: Starting with healers and ending with Pred after 10 minutes. Most newbies won't have the attention span to watch all of it when the beginning is already that boring. Furthermore it wasn't played on the xr_duelshow map.

Duel Demo 02

Skill: Pred was really good, stalker and scav good/very good, Lego good, Savage was okay, and Nomad good.
Balance: Almost perfect (same amount of kills with both races in each tier)
Aesthetics: Fast, good accuracy, very smooth and viewer friendly
Quality: Good

Duel Demo 03

Skill: Pred was good, stalker was average, scav okay, Lego good, Savage good, Nomad too - generally lots of misses and frontals
Balance: Good balance (except the opponent sucking a pred, lego got way more kills)
Aesthetics: Player and opponent were both slow paced, extremely fast spins, not that accurate and viewer friendly, occasional shaky mouse
Quality: Good

Duel Demo 04

Skill: All units were played good (stalker was okay), but as Beast generally lots of misses and frontals
Balance: Perfect
Aesthetics: Fast pacing, extremely fast spins, not that accurate and viewer friendly, occasional shaky mouse
Quality: Lots of lagging (that's a no-go)

Duel Demo 05

Skill: All units were played good
Balance: Perfect
Aesthetics: Fast pacing, high accuracy, occasional shaky mouse
Quality: occasional microlags, but mostly good

Duel Demo 06

Skill: All units were played good/very good
Balance: Good
Aesthetics: Fast pacing, high accuracy, occasional shaky mouse
Quality: occasional microlags, but mostly good, one missing anim swing from noxx

Duel Demo 07

Skill: Great human gameplay, especially Legionnaire, good Beast gameplay, Scav is very good.
Balance: Very good
Aesthetics: Very fast paced, high accuracy, beast mouse flicks are too fast to be viewer friendly IMO - they are just effective, but not beautiful.
Quality: Good

Duel Demo 08

Skill: Great at Pred and Lego, very good Savage, Nomad and Scav, good at Stalker.
Balance: Very good
Aesthetics: Very fast paced, high accuracy, very smooth and solid mouse work, very viewer friendly.
Quality: Good

Duel Demo 09

Skill: Very good at all units, including stalker.
Balance: Very good
Aesthetics: Extremely fast paced (83 duels in less than 14 minutes), high accuracy, very smooth and solid mouse work. Also viewer friendly I guess.
Quality: Good. One missing lego anim in the end of lego duels.

No Icons?? Couldnt youve said that a BIT earlier? It makes all demos useless except Antis.

She said items, not icons.
Examples: DA's red pred, Ultima's Duel Champ Sword, WW's Wolf head, eoN's sword+shield...just to name a few.

No need to worry, maybe the account can get changed in the demo with with a text editor as well as offending chat messages. Haven't tested it yet, but I guess it should work.

The account itself not, but the items can be "removed" temporarily for the demo.
If you need that done, tell Daemon or me. It's no problem at all.

Just remove newerth.s2z and you're set until the next update.

Just remove newerth.s2z and you're set until the next update.

Change the right one of the red numbers and you'll most likely force Noxx to play without clan tag and custom items.

/ale-duel.demo

ˇn˛Noxxˇt˛1ˇo˛0ˇc˛81913ˇr˛0ˇx˛0ˇsep˛1005ˇg˛1127160ˇu˛1313120ˇsq˛0ˇut˛0ˇi0˛0ˇi1˛0ˇi2˛0ˇi3˛0ˇi4˛0ˇi5˛0

I guess it's no problem to edit that in the demo, no need to add scripts. Smiley
