In 2008 I got bored playing "Enemy Territory" so I googled for some free first person shooters. I ended up scrolling down a list of 30 games and when I saw Savage, I laughed and thought "Wtf? You shoot orcs with crossbows in this game. Is it like Heretic with multiplayer? Have to try this out because it looks so weird!" Finding out Savage was class based similarly to ET got me excited too.
First games were harsh. Aiming was weird and different with each weapon. Beasts instakilled me with claw attacks whenever I got too close to them. I barely maintained 1:1 K/D if I camped with ranged near our base. I also figured there was a shit ton of things to learn before I could understand how the game works.
Those two things combined (constant dying to melee combat and the amount info needed to fully enjoy the game), I quit playing. Soon after I went to army anyways.
In 2009 my service ended and for some masochistic reason I decided to revisit Savage. I'm a pretty competitive person and like to take on challenges so maybe that's why. This time I got more patience to learn the game... and soon I was hooked.

My older brother learned about this game that became free from a middle school friend of his, and I learned about it from my older brother (not ENvious, that's my younger brother.)

I heard about savage from a co-worker on the way to a job one day, checked it out, and it was love at first sight.

This might be a fun fact about DeMo history that not many know. I originally found out about the game from a site called gamershell.com at 2003. At the time I was actively trying out all kind of demos and then Savage's demo popped in there. The game featured HvH only gameplay, but at the time it was revolutionary. The full game was out on US, but since I didn't have credit card back then I couldn't purchase it. After a while there was a stable playerbase playing just the demo version of the game and we decided to create a clan, thus DeMo was born.
