Just to get started, here's the post that got me started. http://www.newerth.com/smf/index.php/topic,3114.msg150756.html#msg150756

The reason I'm suggesting that we implement this type of gameplay is just to throw in some fun. I've always wanted to play alongside a beast, and I believe it would add a new edge to how you would normally think of playing. Commanders would have to coordinate with the their allies to secure a victory.

Now here's a few things that would need to be done for this to happen:
-An "ally chat" button. Whether that might be using the squad button, or just throwing in a new button.
-A modded set of maps. I'll post a few examples from Starcraft that I think could be used as a template.
-Triggers, to make the ally-thing to actually work. (Shared Vision, no-ally-damage, maybe shared gold?)
-Anything else. Smiley

So how about we try and get this implemented into the servers, I think we should be able to /callvote a map like this. maybe /callvote example_2v2 or /callvote example_ally

List of Objectives

-Shared vision
-Ability to repair allied structures
-New Commander button to send stone/gold to allies
-Commander button to turn on auto-share gold (for when T1 is broke and T2 has a surplus of gold)
-Allied players register as "ally" for all weapons, along with items using .gs
-Allies may travel through gates
-Commander ability to cast buffs on allies
-An alert system that includes saying something along the lines of: "Our allies are under attack" with a blip on the map
-An ally Commander "mark" that is a different color than the teams (blue or red?)
-In order for a sublair to be built, a beast MUST be in the area. vice versa
-Allies are able to build each other's buildings.
-Allow spawning from allies gars/subs/flags.
-Allow repairing of allies building in all circumstances.
-No interaction between allies buildings (ie: spires have no effect on towers, and vice-versa).
-When a team dies, all its players auto-transfer to their allied team.
-Game ends when both allied teams are defeated.

tbh - i like that idea.

are u thinking about teams only or even shared tech? e.g. Heal-buff for Lego?

I don't think this needs that many triggers, if any Smiley.

I think it chould be coded quite easily, imho:
1. Allied teams share vision.
2. Allied players register as "ally" for all weapons, along with items using .gs
3. Allies can travel through gates.
4. Comms can cast buffs on allies.
5. Team chat is shared by allies.

As for the maps, true... we need something like Lost Temple is for Starcraft.

If we could make the map have more openings to cross between the two sides, we could have each set of allies on the left and right.

Rostner,

Please write a detailed specification of what modifications the game will require.
Please build on Daemon's list, and add to it. For example:
 - Shared Team Chat with allies (no need for a new keybind).
 - Shared Spawn Points.
 - Ability to repaire allied buildings.
 - New Commander button for sendin strone/gold to allies.
 - ... and so on ...

That's all i can think of now. If any of you or I think of something, I'll add it.
Now, When one of the allied teams is killed off (let's say T2), where do those players go? Will it be like a 4-team map where you just get to go on whatever team you want, or maybe all T2's players go to T1 to continue to helping your "ally"?

EDIT: To go along with the sharing stone, in order to keep the usual incomes of each race in check, I was thinking of making a "Transfer fee" or "Conversion cost"(cost it takes to convert the beast redstone into human redstone) of about 8-10%. This would still keep sharing resources a possibility, but there is some consequence.

Btw. elec buffs can't be seen on beasts, unless you make a new skins for scavs, stalkers and preds  Wink

what about if the point of the game is to destroy ONE team of the two possible enemies ?
the first side who manages to kill one of the other sides teams, wins.
will add some more strategy to the game.

chat:  - the 2 commanders on each side should have an own chat together, so they can discuss their stratetgy.

btw, i don't think this "mod" will be very newbie friendly, imagine one noob comm & pro trying to work together.. would be really hard for the pro comm :p 

-does this mod actually manage to make TEAMWORK between commanders ? Cheesy

there are some issues that need to though of before, e.g. do you want to combine tech / bases - IMO a shield tower in combination with a heal-spire is too strong.

He wasn't implying it was imbalanced, just that it wouldn't be fun to play games where for instance, as previously said, there would be shield towers and healing spires working in conjunction, creating an immovable fortress. For BOTH sides.

Yea, That definitely could be true, but I think that it'll be hard for pro commanders to command with an ally, because no one has experience commanding like this.

Hit the nail on the head there. Because the races are same for both alliances, the game would be essentially as equal as you can get. The only stack would be commanders and those that figure out how to optimize/utilize an alliance to the highest potential.

NOW, I'm referencing to Starcraft here, but...
K, I would like to ask everyone's opinion here. Do you think that Humans and Beasts should be able to spawn out of their allies Sub/Garr and Lair/Stronghold. I was going to say:
