The weekly Savage Gaming Evening

Hello folks!

Some of you might have noticed that there are password protected beginner servers around since a while, however not populated yet. My idea was to have weekly Savage Gaming Evenings dedicated to beginners in Europe, the United States, Brasil and Australia. To promote those I've now created a short video that informs PC gamers about the events and attracts them to Savage:

Remember: this is not the final video and doesn't contain the correct server info and passwords. Don't use it yet, it wil be deleted later.

I will promote the video at youtube with weekly bulletins being sent to all friends (around 75'000), but I'm also looking for your involvement. I need guys who post info about the evenings on forums in their country and language and I need reliable guys who help during the evenings (especially on the EU and USA servers which are password protected).

Events:
Europe: Sunday, 19:00 CEST (http://www.tinyurl.com/european-time)
United States: Tuesday, 21:00 EST (http://www.tinyurl.com/usa-time)
Brasil: Saturday, 18:00 BRT (http://www.tinyurl.com/brasil-time)
Australia: Sunday, 16:00 AEST (http://www.tinyurl.com/australian-time)

Promoters:
Tirza (Youtube worldwide, Germany)
Chiprel (Poland)
Marchrisker (Netherlands)
TNaismith

Helpers:
Europe:
Tirza
Chiprel
Trigardon
Alon
Feathers
DieOrFail
Clemens
peanuts
Marchrisker
TNaismith
Ninja

USA:
Rostner

Brasil:
Hique
Mestre
Jun

Australia:
Aneurysm
Arvin

I hope this list will grow soon.  Wink

Todo-list/Discuss:
- optimising and uploading the final version of the video
- creating a good video description with game, event and time details
- BEARDs commentary for the step-by-step instruction "how to join the Savage Gaming Evening" video (+ upload)
- USA Beginner server isn't password protected
- UK server?
- What role shall HvH play on these beginner evenings?
- getting more promoters for different countries
- getting some helpers for the USA
- Game info translated into several languages for game forum promotion (necessary?)
- server settings
- maps and map rotation

Cheers,
Tirza

password protected kind of seems counter productive doesn't it? I mean how is a new player suppose to know the password, or where to even look for one? Hell there are still vets who don't come to this forum, let alone someone that just joined the game.

But either way this is a good step in the right direction, anything that promotes bringing in and helping new players learn will aid Savage in the long run. To many people quit because of the difficulty to learn and getting demolished in seconds by the pros in populated servers. If we eliminate those problems more people will stay and Savage will slowly grow.

Everything goes over that video. The password won't be in any forum. On the beginner server will be only people who watched that video before. At the end of the video you can see a link to a second video which explains step-by-step how to download and install savage and how to join the beginner servers.

This video looks awesome  Afro
The idea for password protected server is really good so vets can't farm those newbs.

I will post it on polish gaming boards. Will you be able to make final version of this video today?

Great job Tirza  Cool

PS. I can help with event.

This is BEARD speaking btw   Smiley

That's cool, Chiprel  Afro I won't finish it today, but we're also not ready yet. The USA server was up once but never password protected and I also think it would be good to have a server located in the UK. You see there are server related issues which aren't solved yet and we also need a bigger team to organize the promotion and the help.

I have no clue about efficient first-hand promotion, so I can't exactly offer my services.

Exactly. Helpers have godref status and will answer questions on the server, command or at least check the servers frequently for veterans who joined although they are not allowed to play (and not to spec either when the servers are populated well ofc - would you like to play as a beginner when 10 vets stay in spec and comment your actions? I doubt it. This is not a zoo.).

For the HoN event we checked the IP of each interested newerth.com user and sent them the password via PM. 90% of them found the server and joined on time. We had to kick one guy which wasn't savage newbie, but his intention was rather to get a HoN beta key than farming newbs.
I am aware it won't be that easy anymore as the video will be accessible to all those who have the link. And it probably won't be difficult to get the link to that video. But it's okay, I trust into the common sense of veterans neither to join the beginner server nor to give the password away. We will have our helpers (referees) if there are misunderstandings concerning who beginner servers are meant to be for and also for noobs who intentionally join to farm.

Veterans allowed to join the beginner servers have referee status and this clantag:
http://www.newerth.com/?id=stats&action=view_clan&uid=70833&pp=search_clan&pk=Ask

I hope we will have many helpers as I personally don't want/can't be present each week. Having 10-20 helpers would be great. (And maybe we don't have to be as much present as I assume since veterans don't cause any trouble)

A Newbie Server that gives you handicap for every kill, or more damage after each death would make much more sense. This Server will stay empty after 3 weeks :O.
