Since it has been online for a while, I'd like to know your opinion about it.

Where is the option "it's like ex2 and would therefore be sacrilege not to like it" for all the vets?

I added so much poll options because if I add simple "Yes" or "No" we'll never know why people vote what they vote and the poll is less useful as it could be.

I voted yes because I heard that someone who looked kind of vet like once said it was maybe something like ex2 might have once sort of been like.

Tirza seems to be a fan of long polls...
I like the new leap because it kind of fills a gap in the beast gameplay. It also opens up the possibility for some neat exploits tricks Grin

Yes, but leaping needs improvements (specify).

Specification... You do not collide with a single player target even if you leap directly into him (Imo this should be done). You should be able to slide through his side w/o losing any of your momentum. Though, if 2 players are blocking you, you should not be able to achieve what is mentioned above.

I decided to give my own input as well.

I actually like the idea of beast being able to leap upills, but it is implemented in a bad way and the way it is at the moment definitely removes depth of melee combat and also strategy for commanders. But how could leaping be improved while still allowing players and commanders to use the terrain strategically?

Actually you're able to leap the same distance no matter how steep the terrain is. I think on a 44.9 degree terrain (45 degrees is the inclination you can't walk anymore) the leaping distance should be reduced to 1/2 or 1/3. The leaping distance reducement should start at maybe 5-10%, so small ground waves don't matter (though I'm not sure about this one). That way leaping wouldn't get completely canceled like in SFE, but at least reduced.
The other thing is how uphill leaping works in XR. While leaping uphills a state gets activated that sets ground friction to 0 (or very low), which has the effect that you don't leap straight. You slide in curves over the terrain, it feels like going on ice. This has to be done differently. Leaping has to be straight and feel solid (without that ground friction variable being involved).

Cheers,
Tirza

PS: Maybe some of you played the map xr_skills and noticed that when you slide down the terrain you suddenly get stopped/stuck in the terrain mesh. The same bugs occur when beast leaps are based on ground friction, because the leaping is too closely constrained to the terrain so it gets affected by the mesh bugs and leaps get randomly canceled.

As a predominately human player, I see nothing wrong with flux  Tongue
