http://www.newerth.com/?id=maps&mid=1948

if I got sigs from 5+ people who test, can you just online the maps?

Saves admins the time to check, and 5+ people's words that the map is ready should be sufficient.

Why would I pay someone to put their sig on a map? I'd rather pay them to make me admin.  Afro

Why do you ask us why you would to pay someone to put a sig on your map?

I took a quick look at it in the editor.  Few thoughts.

1. You know that your south base can be sieged from the middle area platforms right?  The SH is placed plenty close enough to get shots through on it.

2. No matter how many nav floods you put in, you cannot get worker pathing on objects except a select couple.  That whole middle platform top area is going to be player-only.  You may as well wipe the nav floods you placed up there.

3. That is a LONG-ass way to get up to the flag...  for what benefit?  Maybe you should have that big ramp end with the flag over one of the raised side paths or something of interest besides randomly up really high somewhere over the middle kind of above one ramp but not the other.

4. Also, for as high as your flag ramp goes, you can see all the shoddy texture work you did on the tops of your map.  I'd say you should clean that up a bit.

5. Your occluders aren't going to do any good for someone up top in the middle... I would do any playability testing from there to make sure it doesn't start lagging.

6. On occluders, make sure you make them cover all the way down below your lowest terrain floor.  There are a lot of side path occluders that you can see right under them from the lower level of the path.  Also, you can reduce the number of occluders you used in some places.  For example, where you have this...    |_| on the one side you could just use...   X   instead, two criss-crossed instead of a 3-sided box.

Hope this helps.

buahaha. the O returns.  Afro

1) I know. Thats what I meant to do. but to please the O. I'll edit it. DONE

2) That was a very HIGH hopeful thing to do. Lol. I liked the concept but i wasn't sure how to make a 'platform' so.. that's what I ended with. FIXED

3) That flag obstacle course was made for the community. US leet voted for it.  However, I made a 'necessary' adjustment. Afro

4) as stated in other posts.. editor crashes A LOT on my new pc. When I started finishing work on this PC.. I could only adjust terrain. Anything else would crash the editor instantly. I'm working on it now on an old PC, but it's a bit difficult. Did you know one of the SFE textures when used in XR becomes an XR only textures and does not show up when you play on SFE? Check out my TS_Cajun... does not work on XR clients at all. LOL

5) Plays fine. Added occluder around the entire platform to help a bit (possibly)

ok ok.. i'll fix those top terrain textures asap. :[

THANKS!

Check out my TS_Cajun... does not work on XR clients at all. LOL

I don't know what you mean by doesn't work on XR clients, because it works for me...  It just looks kinda lame all one texture... unless you're telling me that it's NOT all just one green and i can't see the other layer?

In the meantime for this map, send me a pm when it's all done.  I'm not exactly "back," I just check forums from rare time to time.  I'll have more time this summer when I don't have to go enlighten young minds all day.  Hopefully I'll be able to help out more around here.  Huzzah for summer break.

oh. fawk.

I meant TS_Cajun does not work at all on SFE client.

Load SFE and check it out.

That tiledgrassroads texture transmits to XR-only when used in XR editor.

change textures from "all green" to colorfull and pretty

change farclip from ugly white border to something more subtle

change terrain from HUGE STEEP CLIFFS to something pretty to look at

change is good, it worked for 3 billion years so far.

Spoiler (Mouse-Over to read)
how you made a great obstacle course  Afro

i didn't make the map for aesthetic reasons. US Leet wanted the map (for the most part) to how I made it.

Consider it a made-to-order map.  Wink

btw. as I have only made 3 complete maps, I think i'll save the better maps for when I become a 'veteran' of the field. why make my first or second map the best?

it's like a rock band having their debut album as their best ever, and if they could never top it, then all their albums just go downhill.

I'd like my maps to subtle in their goodness until I reach the CLIMAX.

Yeaaaaaa baby!  Rolleyes

That is hardly a reason to not strive for improvement. If you don't practice good techniques then you are hardly going to get better at them.
