Okay, thank you.

This is in Newerth.com Pulse (Public)
We don't know what's going on that server.

Thanks for the response. Do you know where I can contact the people running that server?

I thought of posting the log (\game\badpacket.dat) here, but the content of the file doesn't appear to be readable, or it's in some unknown encoding.

The problem does not occur on the new NLD server. I confirmed that it only occurs on Pulse. Of course, for my bad luck, that's where the entire community is playing  Undecided

The NLD server has only the same problem I've been having - for the first 5 minutes or so, outgoing packets are mostly not going out, while incoming packets are being received.

I'm not able to join now.

After I joined the server, it loaded the map again and I got a message in red saying "Valrog(2) shares an IP with Valrog".

Now when I try to join the server, it says:

"Invalid packet data received from server (cmd was 5)

Packet dumped to gamebadpacket.dat"

Wow, I expected to be the only player in the United Arab Emirates after all this time. I don't think I've connected 48 times since I started playing again. So, there must be at least one other person.

Ah, I thought only a_u.exe updates. I had tried Silverback.exe, as that's what I remember using a decade ago, and was told to try a_u.exe. If Savage also auto-updates, that's perfectly fine.

It's not the style of the tutorial. The Humans tutorial doesn't work at the moment. The first thing it asks you to do is build a building that isn't placed, so you can't start the tutorial. I thought the tutorial wasn't completed, so I suggested the person who made the Beasts tutorial also make one for Humans. I didn't know that it used to work before, as I only resumed playing now, after a decade.

I'll pass my suggestion on bots to the community server forum. Thanks for the info.  Afro

1. New players might get confused by downloading the game and not being able to connect to the server. Keep only the a_u.exe in the main directory and rename it to "Savage". Let the experienced players create a shortcut to "Silverback.exe" if they don't want to the auto-update check to take 1 second.

2. The Beast tutorial is great (though a bit buggy). It would be good if the person who created the tutorial could also do one for Humans. Nanaa's demo is excellent.

3. If feasible, introducing low-skill bots to average out the server would help new players to be able to compete. I'm not sure if the current bots work only on skirmish maps. Gold might have to be more plentiful to avoid the bots sucking out all the gold from the pool.

4. Getting on Steam may not be necessary. People could just share the news about the free game on general gaming forums.

Windows has a built-in Ease of access feature to move mouse with numpad arrows. You just have to enable it.

Thanks! That might work.

You mean having 2 sets of keys, one for moving your character in the world (forward/backward/left/right) and another one for moving the crosshair up/down/left/right on your screen, gameboy style?

Yes, that's what I meant.

For ranged weapons, particularly in first-person mode, it'd be much easier to aim with the keyboard.

Right now, we can sort of do that by strafing to aim, but it's not the same, as the unit moves out from behind the hiding place when we do that.

Is there a way to configure the game to aim using the keyboard (without strafing)?
11  Savage XR / Re-balancing Suggestions / Re: Read 1st :: Post here your 2nd generation re-balancing suggestions on: March 05, 2018, 09:50:28 pm
Observation: Rabid is almost exclusively the Beast weapon in every game, other than Blaze against siege units.

Suggestion: Boost non-Rabid weapons somewhat, to increase variety, while still maintaining them as an inferior alternative to Rabid, so that balance is not affected. Special care needs to be taken to not affect early game balance (think scavenger vs nomad - Venomous is already very powerful). Perhaps leave damage unchanged but make mana consumption of weapons much lower.

EDIT: Sorry, wrong thread.

In that case, perhaps we could make ballistas very slow to turn and fire at a spot very slightly off from where the player aims?

Neither change would affect its ability to fire at buildings, which are large, but they would still make it less preferable a choice against players.

Your upload bandwidth is probably horrendously narrow. Try with another ISP, somehow Smiley. At a friend/neighbor's place, maybe.

It's not the speed. I just did a speed test and it shows as 21.42 Mbps download and 4.33 Mbps upload. Is 4.33 Mbps upload so slow that even if type "hi" in the chat window, it doesn't appear at all, even 30 minutes later? How many bytes does it take to say "hi" Smiley If I just wait for a long time and then try, the strange slowness goes and there is no slowness at all.

It's clear to me that the data from the game is not getting sent out to the server for some reason, even though incoming data is being received freely.

Is anyone able to help find out for me what ports are used by the game client? Thanks a lot.

Depends on the server; so select a server in the server list and click the "Game Info" button.
Default is 11235, but when multiple servers are on the same host/network, ports wary.

Wonderful! Thank you so much. I will see if the packets are somehow getting blocked from my side.
