1  Savage XR / First generation changes / Re: Back to the drawing board (declined suggestions) on: March 07, 2011, 01:08:58 pm
I have discussed with Groentjuh the possiblity of creating admin triggers to enforce server rules.
Basically the behe would get a warning after a few seconds of camping around a flag that he will be killed if does not move away.

From what I know about triggers, people can easily evade this by walking away from the flag (exiting the trigger) and then walking back. They may not be inside that trigger long enough for a trigger to fully go off (eg. standing there for the full minute or what-not), but they can still camp a flag... Triggers are stupid (Not saying that in a mean way, it's the truth), they don't know that players can exploit their one flaw: They can only keep track of things inside, entering, and exiting their trigger, they can't keep track of anything out side of the trigger. Basically meaning that a player can exit the trigger, thus leaving the trigger's memory, come back and then restart the "enter trigger" event timer all over again. (That's actually where refs come in actually...)

Nah probably not, as if anyone would bother putting helpful information about mapping in a thread titled like that.
Totally right -No one- would even consider putting information on how to do essential things when creating maps. Why do something that no one would notice?

His reasons for leaving out Trikitiger's ("I hate the savage unit")
Like I said, I knew nothing on Bobbe XP

Though of the four, I'm definitely picking... *censored for drama*

MY ENTRY FOR NOICE VOICE THINGIE YOU REQUESTED

Lol, I only did mine because Tirza asked if I could put up a vocal sample ^^;; I had responded to moncic about having a dismal setup and I mentioned that I had a medium-quality setup. After mentioning that, Tirza wanted to hear some voice acting, so I did ^^;; Had nothing to do with entries or anything like that.
5  Off Topic / Hi! My name is .. / Re: POLL: How did you hear about Savage? on: February 27, 2011, 03:45:16 pm
I heard of it almost literally from a friend. My school was doing LAN parties against the Spokane Campus, and I was like "Savage, what's that?" And because we had a Thursday's class we were kind of shown it, and heck it was awesome. So we went to the LAN party and that's how I first played. I didn't kick ass at the LAN party, but after playing some online games, I did better than most of the others on the last few LAN parties (I'm sure they didn't play as much as I did at that time lol) Now I play for gitts and shiggles as well as killing time at the end of the night.

That was also how I first played sky_hopping. However it's quite unfortunate that the map doesn't work online like it did with the LAN

Give us a voice sample please Smiley

Three things as I put these two up:
1) Didn't know what to say
2) Kind of rushed clip #2
3) Got carried away and was sitting 1 inch from the mic at some points
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not my best work, but it does give a good idea of my range.

7  Savage XR / General Savage XR Discussion / Re: Project Offset not dead! on: February 25, 2011, 01:33:22 pm
Bit more info on their site http://www.fractiv.com

The offset engine is still owned by Intel and they have killed the project and won't sell it to fractive, must be so depressing for the guys there. The savage engine/game was so awesome you just know it would of been great.

Bah.

It looks like they used concepts from this engine in Dragon Age 2, check out the demo, they look very similar.

I am afraid my microphone is not suited for high quality sound recording... I have been making music tracks since 1997, but I dont think that gabba, hardcore and speedcore techno is exactly what Savage players want to hear Smiley  Anyway I am able to  synthetize ( or remaster) some ambient effects, weapon effects. etc. ( I use Orangator, Jeskola Buzz, VSTs)

I. on the other hand, may not have a professional setup, but I have medium-high quality equipment for a medium-setup. A very nice mic ($60 compared to a standard $20), a makeshift pop-stopper (Better than nothing!), As well as Audacity and Adobe Soundbooth. I also know how to eliminate pops and background noise (The "I'm recording air/my computer" hiss) on both programs. If I knew how to match Jazariah's voice, I'd be able to get him as a the instructor, but unfortunately I don't have a light British accent, nor will I be able to keep the accent and tone for very long (That's like telling me to do Pikachu for 3 hours... I can only do it for a few short minutes X.X Though not to that extreme)

Anyway, skilled and ruthless fighters don't make to be presidents, prime ministers, or interplanetary ambassadors.

What do you think Darth Vader was then? Fuck he ruled the Empire with his iron fist with the Sith (pretty much the figurehead of the Sith at the time). If I had the choice to face him down or run in a hole because of how ruthless he was, I'd run in a hole and hope he doesn't kill me O.o

Ok sorry for offtopicness lol.

The answers to this question, given by forum users, will have to be submitted in the form of a 256x256px still image with captions, one per user. After 1 week, a selection of images that have entered the competition, picked by the subject of this very contest, will be pitted against each other in a poll lasting for another week. The author of the picture that will get the most votes will be the winner and the proud wearer of the first unique item Savage has ever seen, to be admired and revered by everyone! Tongue

... Gimme 1 day and I'll give you an answer in lulz... It may not be accurate, but it'll be an entry XP

First version is the full version, second version is the 256X256 version XP
E-heheheheheeee XD

(edit : just a pointer on reloc, don't forget you can't heal up for free say you use 3x meds before relocing, after, and buying new ones for your next run, voila 4.5k used + a new relo, 5k)

Exactly, and gold shortages are one of the main reasons why humans lose. You're spending 5000 gold just to lug one lego (another 4.5K) out into the field. Nerfing relocs would be like saying "Ha, humans have to waste more time to farm gold because of gold shortages."

I can run a pred with just rabid, no frenzy, no buffs, and usually always kill at least 1 person. That's 4.75K As opposed to 9.5K for a human. Humans are gold-hungry bastards that need reloc in order to preserve their gold. I -RARELY- see a human team at max team-gold for longer than 1 minute. Beast teams on the other hand I frequently find at max gold for longer than 1 minute. This is, of course, depending on how the team is. If there's a lot of gold-requesting newbs, then the gold gets dangerously low and forces a lot of skilled or vet players to farm for gold when they could be out defending their base/outposts.

Point is, humans are gold-hungry bastards; you nerf reloc, you give beasts a bigger advantage where they already have a big advantage (speed and gold farming efficiency), not to mention that you will have a lot more coil-whores who reloc out of danger before a beast gets into melee range (I've already seen it before, Pussy Legos... They're very annoying)

13  Archive / Modding Forum / Re: DOWNLOAD GUI contrast minimap icons. on: February 22, 2011, 05:28:53 pm
and i have a question to Deamon, why at "choose a spawn location" windows we cannot see sensored enemies?
but inside savage0.s2z ->ui_spawnpoint_select.cfg file we can see enemy icon paths.... probably it is bug and need to fix it to be able to see enemies?

There's also another bug that actually freezes a commander's marks on moving targets when you're on the "Choose a spawnpoint" screen. This has gotten me to spawn in the wrong location hundreds of times, and has also caused the marking-flag to go to the bottom left corner for no reason (this happens when a commander marks something while you're in the choose-spawnpoint screen).
14  Savage XR / First generation changes / Re: The Rock/Paper/Scissor Thread on: February 22, 2011, 05:21:33 pm
In terms of the reloc counter, what about bringing up the idea of the delay again? That way melee can be the counter, and snare is just the helper for that counter. Dunno, but saying the reloc doesn't have a counter just sounds stupid to me, because humans can't go and bash NPC creatures like beasts can (Carn = essentially no damage from NPC creatures, while humans need to spend money on medic packs to heal from NPC Creatures)

Trikitiger, please read my entire post before assuming through your answer to a sentence or two.

and only lay on the ground for a short period of time before disappearing (about the same time as an ammo or moneybag stays..)

 Afro

Although that does lessen the degree of spamming, it still doesn't stop the coating of areas due to the infinite amount of immobs humans can use.
15  Savage XR / First generation changes / Re: The Rock/Paper/Scissor Thread on: February 22, 2011, 02:29:51 pm
Snare could have the same effect.

How would it exploit if people already place uber amounts of wards/mines at flags?

Easily, because immobs don't have a number restriction like mines do, humans can easily coat the map with HUNDREDS of immobs and only be burdened by the amount they need to pay for the immobs. A commander can tell his/her entire team to coat a chokepoint with immobs, thus creating a nearly impenetrable wall, it also creates more deaths on the beasts' side who have no sort of item to bring them back to their base (unlike humans who have reloc). If a human gets snared in a beast's base/sub, they reloc, and they're safe, a beast gets immobed in a human's SH/garr, they're basically dead.
