1  Archive / Savage XR Videos / Re: Savage Lets play and Savage Things to do on: December 04, 2013, 07:46:43 pm
I seem to remember Aneurysm made a catapult racing map. That could be fun, but I imagine it's easy enough to make one from scratch. Also I seem to remember he made some kind of uber palace with triggers and powerups and things. Is Aneurysm still around these days?

Edit: found it. http://www.newerth.com/?id=maps&mid=1982 and http://www.newerth.com/?id=maps&mid=1914 I think is what I was thinking of
2  Savage XR / Support Forum / I broke savage on: December 03, 2013, 06:55:06 pm
I just typed 'bind xbutton1 invswitch 4' into the console and it crashed. Here's a crash report, although from reading console.log I can see
]bind 5
Current active profile: 0
[0] 5 (down): invswitch 4
[1] 5 (down): unitgroup 5
^yAll teams must have commanders ^ybefore ^ythe ^ygame ^ycan ^ystart!

]bind xbutton1 invswitch 4
Illegal invswitch abuse spotted.

*** CRASH ***

I don't know if you'd consider this a bug or not, but it was certainly unexpected from my point of view. Or is having extra mouse buttons considered an abuse nowadays? Thought I'd report it either way.

Oh, PS. I started savage and the player model look really bright. It seems to be only if I use shaders on normal or high; it's fine if they're not on at all. Here's some screenshots.

I edited it, I uploaded it and hid it in a fit of paranoia some time ago. I think I backed up the movie files onto a DVD somewhere, maybe I can dig them out and look for funny outtakes if anyone cares.

As far as I'm concerned, you're very welcome to keep it up on your Newerth channel. I hope it still brings some small amount of attention to the channel and laughter to people today.

As far as I know, there is no support for directly binding extra mouse buttons in savage. You could use another program to map the extra button to a key that you don't use. Try this program here.

NB: listbinds output includes button1 and xbutton2, as well as buttons 4 to 9. None of these respond to extra mouse buttons.

~createvar volumetoggle;bind = "toggle volumetoggle; if [volumetoggle == 0] sound_mastervolume 0;if [volumetoggle == 1] sound_mastervolume 0.7;" // 0.7 can be replaced with whatever you have yours as (note: on the volume slider halfway or 50% would be represented as 0.5)  This can be used to mute savage if you want to tab out and watch a video or something.

Don't create a var unless you need to!
bind keyid "toggle sound_mastervolume; set sound_mastervolume [0.7*sound_mastervolume]"

It's just made with savage's scripting tools (not C or any other letter), so you could modify it if you wanted to. It would probably be easier to use a config file on the server though.

Setting Up Admin Control

Goto your server folder. Go inside the game folder. Open up "XR_admin.cfg" in notepad or similar. Scroll down to the passwords section. Think of an admin password for the server, and add it next to "set svr_adminpassword". For example: if your password was beardftw, the line would be:
set svr_adminpassword "zomgzomgzomgzomg" //Admin password

Scroll down (or search with control + F) until you find "svr_allowRemoteSvcmds". Make sure this is 1.

Finally, you have to set this cvar on your client (normal savage installation). You can do this in the console, or the chatbox if you add a / to the start. For example, if your password was beardftw like before:

setsave cl_adminpassword "beardftw"

Sending Commands to the Server

As you seem to know, you use svcmd to send commands to the server. Some examples are:

svcmd timescale 0.5 //slow motion, set to 1 to get back to normal
svcmd p_gravity 0.8 //you can jump slightly higher, set to 1 to reset

svcmd exec superPowers.cfg should work too. However, the file superPowers.cfg must be on the server (in server folder/game I expect).

Related: my server control mod (in game, requires you to have set up admin control. It may break options screen)

On the contrary, I'm saving people some keystrokes!

bind KeyName "toggle cl_meleeConstrain"

edit: I should add that I only tested this in XR; your solution may well be valid/neccesary for other savage versions.
