4 years have passed since this thread started. It's not going to happen. Moving on.

VIVA LA REVOLUTION! Death to the refs for enforcing the rules! And death to Groent for making fair rules on the server he is paying for! THEIR HEADS ON MY PIKE!!!  Cheesy

Groent, it's illogical (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man) and unfair to compare camping in a video game with racism. They obviously aren't similar therefore their approach cannot be the same. And since everybody goes complete apeshit even at the mention of a word which is "racist" (somehow, don't ask me I still don't understand how that works) your argument is invalid. Just saying. Tongue

Hes not saying they're similar, understand the context in which he's put them in.

Read the link. He may not have said them to be similar but it has to be in order for what he said to be true.

Oh c'mon. You could've at least put my text in spoiler brackets especially since I had quoted his original post.  Tongue

I suspect that you set vid_realbright to 0 in the screens you've taken. The default setting for it is 1.

Just compare the redstone from your second picture with the redstone from Tirza's first picture. I am paying a close attention to the crystals. Even on low settings they cannot look that crappy on XR. I don't know what exactly you did there but by pressing any of the quality presets, setting shaders on high, everything checked and whatever, you won't have that effect on the crystals. No need for a screenshot because it looks the same like Tirza's first screenshot.

And thanks for the drama, dear. I am starting to enjoy it already.  Grin

Am I detecting....drama? Oh my, oh my!  Cheesy

Anyways, I have two remarks on the pictures posted by DoF. On the first one with SR you seem to be having connection problems. And is it just me or are you comparing the lowest possible graphics of XR with the highest possible graphics of SR? I swear I never saw a redmine to look so cartoonish with my client.  Tongue

But I never mentioned harmful behavior or trouble making in general. Please don't put other words in my mouth. Tongue I was and I am talking solely about cheating and suspicion of cheating. And the affirmation "Everybody is innocent until proven guilty" still stands (and will always stand). Even if the suspicion alone will get the defendant banned he would still be innocent because nothing against him was actually proven in the first place.
It's of no concern if he's innocent or guilty; that's merely the way the justice system labels things. Criminals are called "innocent" at times even though they're guilty (merely due to lack of evidence). It's pointless in this case. Smiley And offers nothing of value to the matter; even if you repeat it or try to explain in more detail. It has its importance in the justice system, but not for a for-fun chess tournament. If it were a real legal case with actual importance, we wouldn't even be discussing this on a public forum. :p Not to mention the available resources to determine the truth would be a lot more efficient.

My primary statement was that the current suspicion of cheating should hardly have any bearing if any at all because it is simply insufficient or very lacking. I suppose that this is a matter of opinion and perspective but it seems quite obvious that people are emphasizing this suspicion of cheating out of spite instead of being objective. I am not necessarily criticizing this since I do it as well sometimes (apparently I am admitting of being a hypocrite for some reason  Grin) it is merely an observation.

I understand that this is a hardly-worth-noting competition but as I (kinda) said before, regardless of priority or prestige it is still unfair to remove people based on suspicion alone. But I guess that can't be helped.

Now let's take this case for example. How can the accused prove that he is innocent when his accusation is unproven either? What can Clumsi do to prove that he is innocent of cheating?
Actually, proving he's not cheating is a lot easier than proving he is cheating. e.g. He could share his screen while having the cam running. You'd clearly see no program is running on his desktop and no one is next to him in his room. :p On the other hand, to prove he might be cheating, a variety of laws would have to be broken.

Well, if I was in that case I wouldn't be able to do it because I don't have a cam and I am too much of a poor Romanian to buy one.  Tongue

I suppose this isn't a legal case but that doesn't mean it is suddenly more fair to ban people based on unproven suspicions either. And this kind of conduit can be easily abused. For instance, a player can accuse another player of cheating just to get rid of him from the competition.
True, but that's not how things happened anyway. Smiley Research was done (not just by me :p) and the suspicions were deemed high enough to deserve the label "causing trouble". I'd be surprised if Lucky said "Clumsy cheats" and then Feathers went "okay, he's banned" just like that. I would assume evidence and suspicions were gathered before a verdict was granted (not to mention his aggressive behavior was also in global chat). So, you are correct about your statements, but they do not apply to this situation. Do you think he was banned just because Lucky wanted it? Grin

Of course not. In this paragraph I was criticizing the described conduit in general not in this particular case. What you are saying here is more or less what I was saying later in that paragraph (the part which you didn't quote). What I was criticizing of this particular case is stated above.

Everybody is innocent until proven guilty.
The suspicion enough is to disqualify someone in this case. He's not being sent to jail, nor sentenced to death. Wink That has little merit. Generally, organizers reserve the right to remove anyone they deem harmful or causes trouble.
In a case like this, the defendant has to prove he's innocent. Don't get it mixed up. :p

But I never mentioned harmful behavior or trouble making in general. Please don't put other words in my mouth. Tongue I was and I am talking solely about cheating and suspicion of cheating. And the affirmation "Everybody is innocent until proven guilty" still stands (and will always stand). Now let's take this case for example. How can the accused prove that he is innocent when his accusation is unproven either? What can Clumsi do to prove that he is innocent of cheating? He can't (unless we somehow develop telepathy Tongue). It's exactly how you said before: everybody could be cheating. Generally, in order for a defendant to prove his innocence then he must first have valid points from the accuser to refute. In this case, the only good reason to ban Clumsi is because he's such an asshole that he deserves anal penetration with an iron rod.

I suppose this isn't a legal case but that doesn't mean it is suddenly more fair to ban people based on unproven suspicions either. And this kind of conduit can be easily abused. For instance, a player can accuse another player of cheating just to get rid of him from the competition. This of course almost never works in real life because people don't just ban other people on suspicion alone, which is the point I am trying to make.

And of course, you are right: ultimately, the organizers decide how their competition should work.

EDIT:
Everybody is innocent until proven guilty.

except me, right?  Cheesy and I already gave quite good reasons of my innocence, too bad you didn't read it - or you're really dense  Afro
bah..I got so much haters whom I never heard of  Cheesy Cheesy - am I really this much feared  Huh

I forgot to mention that besides the fact that he deserves rough anal penetration he also should also have his eyes removed slowly with a fork and kitchen knife because he obviously never uses them. I feel pity for the worms residing in his brain...they must be getting quite hungry.  Tongue
