Surfs are only used for buildings and static objects. They do not affect anything else. Characters have bounding boxes defined within scripts. Weapons have hit boxes (not sure if defined within the character script or the weapon one, Dae might know better Tongue) which are activated when the character attacks. Gameplay wise, you cannot extend the range because the server has authority over those parameters. Visually, you can, but it may look wrong.

I think max 9 was used for exporting. Though some of them were made in max 2012.

May i suggest you reduce the noise a bit on those normals. It makes it inconsistent with the rest of the armor. Other than that it looks nice Smiley. Good job there.

What made you say that? and why (namely newerth admins) assume I don't know what I'm doing?

1 The picture showed quads and not tris.
2 Why admins? because its mostly Dae and Me who brought 3d assets to the game in the last couple of years and thus have experience. As you can see there are very few experienced non-admin modelers around (if any), therefore its only us who can give you technical feedback.

Sorry to inform you, but those tris are not accurate. Export and reimport the sword, then check again. You will probably get double the current value.

You attached the mesh to another. To Detach, select the Element again and press detach from the Edit Poly modifier.I recommend tho that you stick to a single mesh and a single texture file rather than splitting things around like you intend to. After you google UVNwrap you'll probably get what i mean. Also Weld vertices of the connected meshes so you can get a properly connected mesh.

You are on the right track there.

What exactly do you mean connected the geometry?
Welded the vertices? Attached 2 meshes?

Texturing can only be done after UVUnwrapping using UVUnwrap Modifier from max by aligning the UV coords.

Instead of this, try using the displacement map filter provided by with the PS package. It is much more easier and accurate than manually wrapping the text Wink. Google "displacement map photoshop", there are many tutorials out there for different PS versions. Check some of them and apply the filter to your texture. It shouldn't take more than 5 min.
