What's fun about a 1-way map on a 64 man server? I just don't get it.
Me neither. One way maps are a bit boring. No chance to sneak or make surprise garrs or subs. No reason to scout or try to find a weak spot in the enemy defences because there's only one way to go. The tactical side of the game is sort of minimized.

And what comes to the too long games, in these humans have often built an invincible fortess of doom. If you can't sac or summ the shield and the teamplay doesn't work (chainsac, behes) then what are you going to do as beast? Just wait for the ending and farm some nomads. The ideal game length is maybe 40 mins and the map is such that the invicible fortresses aren't possible.

Groentjuh server started to work when I opened one port in the windows firewall.  Afro

The weird thing is that disabling the whole firewall or adding savage.exe to the exceptions list doesn't help. I have no other firewall software running. Huh

It seems that some ports work and some others just don't (firewall is not in use). I can get the connection only about every 10th time I try to join some server. Reinstalling didn't help.  Cry

Okay, now it works again. I don't know what was wrong.  Tongue

I've got some problems connecting some xr servers (for example Groentjuh, leet US). It just goes to "establishing connection" state but nothing happens. Some other XR servers and MPUK work fine. This problem appeared sometimes in december and I have installed the newest version with auto updater. Is there some other solution other than re-install savage?

This clan was a fun case. Clan system was bugging, I tried to create a new funclan for myself (name was nothing close to 'Nigger') and suddenly I became the other founder of this already existing Nigger clan.  Grin

Too high learning curve and that's why newbs are getting whored all the time.
Yup, most players want to pwn quite soon after they start a new game. One of my friends didn't want to start savage because he was so badly owned in his first game.

The game engine is quite good even though it often doesn't work as it maybe should.

The priority of good graphics is too high nowadays. I suppose most of the resources in game making are wasted in that area. On the other hand games don't even need a great game engine anymore, simply nice graphics and an interesting storyline are enough to make the game good (fallout 3 for example). Or if you can make a MORPG which has an interesting, big and a nice looking world to explore and a lot of players you don't need any exceptional game engine.

Predators will always single out the weak looking nomads because they are the easiest to kill and most people are kill whores for the most part.
That's also clever tactics, not just whoring. Nomad ranged weapon is as deadly as lego ranged. Say there's a group of 2 legos and 2 nomads. The first pred can kill the nomads and the human firepower has already dropped to half then. After that the legos are much easier.  Smiley

My beast playstyle:
Team is losing, enemy players are good: defensive tempest/careful rabid
Team is losing, enemy players are still quite bad on average: offensive rabid
Team is winning: offensive, shield tower saccer, summoner

And on bigger servers like evo it's more like this:
I alone against more (even though I mostly die at this Tongue)

Isn't it 3 sacs for normal shielded tower and 5 for shielded mortar/elec?

I agree that shield tower is too powerful. Quite often it causes boring games where beasts practically speaking don't have a chance to get the human base down. 50% protection would be better instead of 80% which we have nowadays. The drawback is that shield tower is the best weapon humans have and nerfing it means we should somehow nerf the beasts too or just boost humans somehow. But how?

Different map categories in my opinion:

1) Good but overplayed
Maps which are good but you have played them so many times that you know almost all the different strategies and every game feels a bit like one before. crossroads, eden2, losthills, battlefront etc.

2) Bad one way maps
omega, initial, puchi maps, mini, tiny etc.

3) Maps with some sort of design flaws
Usually maps where it's too easy for humans to build practically invincible defences. Or uneven maps.

4) Ugly and unrealistic
The name tells it all.

5) The best maps
Good maps that are not overplayed. The problem is that nobody ever votes these because they don't know these maps exist. And not so many people want to comm because they don't know the map. Often people prefer to callvote category 1 (or 2-4) maps instead.
