same here, played em all.
never completed the misssions, nearly never played it in mp.
but i did play em alot, except for the tiberian sun. Good games. they have some flaws, but every game has (a perfect game does not exist).

for me, with the generals, it's kinda going downhill. the generals is nice and stuff, but it just doesnt feel like the other C&C.
They say red alert 3 is coming, i hope it ll be good. (AoE 3 just ain't AoE anymore in my opinion, it's too different, they touched some of the basic principles and they messed it up. And judging from what i hear about commando's 3, they seem to have f'cked it up too.)

tiberian sun + firestorm, were kinda boring sicne all you needed to do was camp with over powered artillary

I played C&C Generals and C&C Zero hour online. Good games, although I think ZH sucked hard, played it only like three weeks.

the major problem with generals, for me, was that the defense couldnt defend itself.
U'd have to constantly babysit it. I hate that.
I expect defense to defend. not to get owned by 3 patriot missles launchers and a sniper.

I played them all, and found the original to be the most entertaining. Generals is brilliant, but its different from red alert and tiberium sun as you cant just build up a massive army of tanks 2 hurl them at the enemy base, you have to use each units abilities individually. Anybody fancies giving me a game im more than happy.

well, nk that's just what i like in a rts. Making a mass army and hurl it at the enemy base.
That comes from back when i played TA (with a 5000 unit limit).

I hate micromanagement and that's where Generals went wrong for me. I hate having to jump to my army, my base, army base army, other army, base..
I prefer to have a base that can manage on it's own.
Compared to Warcraft III, the micromanagement in generals aint bad. i have to admit that. Warcraft III is way more complicated. It requires alot more babysitting.

Just to say, TA = abseloutly godlike. You can download a new 3D version too

RA1 Aftermath was the best, although I do like the non-expanded Generals too.

I know, but the controls were kinda hard, last time i gave it a try.
A game doesnt have to have rotable camera's for me or zoom in till u can c their face and count their hairs. i dont use that anyway.

For the TAnewbies out there, TA was fully 3d rendered at launch. in 1996 or 1997 that was. everything is realtime (bullets flying and stuff) and 3d rendered (every single laser shot, every bullet). It just was not possible to rotate the map. TA has some minor issues and a few bigger ones, but it still pwns.

BUt, yes, it's entirely different gameplay then a C&C. So comparing them is rather pointless. It mainly depends on what u want from an rts.

Ive got command & conquer, red alert, tiberian sun, generals, zero hour. Most of them. There good except extremely repetative.
+ Generals has so many problems. Says it only uses 128mb ram, and my computer sturggles to run with 256mb, and the new patches are bloody massive to download. Cant be bothered with them tbh.

Stil all amazing games.
Anyone played renegade?
Now thats an amazing command and conquer game.

renegade was fun.
the mp was laggy. Single player was good, a bit short maybe, but a good game allways ends too soon.

Renegade was a good game ya... Whoever said ages ago about commandos 3, it doesn't beat commandos 2... heck i still sometimes play commandos 2!! all the C&C games did rule. Played generals and zero hour a bit, but I remember the days of RA2 and Yuris revenge... I was the guy who always liked co-op games hehe

Age of Mythology... anyone play that still? There should be a day of retro (not too retro) games with everyone in here playing... would be awesome if it worked   :-)

AoM is like AoE, but with more fancy units :)
I liked it, but not as much as AoE. I never played any RTS in mp, so my opinion only goes for sp. No wait, that aint true, recently, i and my friends started playing AoK in lan, human vs cpu. Is fun, but doesnt really count as mp either.

I have the collection, Grant prefers redalert. I myself prefer Renegade. that explains my commanding, now I just need an excuse for my fps play  :|

C&C are some of the best games. i play generals over LAN with friends and have fun for a couple  of games then it gets repetitive. It does have problems...

you cant defend "weapons of mass destruction" without attacking the buildings that launch these which means your whole army attacking nothing defending nuke lands they attack you die.

you simply cant defend in this game and it is to hard to keep an eye on all your units to use there personal abilities.
it needs to be more user friendly and more easily defended... like defensive structures built for certain purposes like AA guns bunkers and rpg sites

Generals had horrible defenses, except the ZH expansion. The chinese artillery thingie that can kill men inside tanks pwned. Combined with some infantry, u could turn an incoming invasion into your outgoing raid. Besides that, the defenses pretty much all suck. I prefer defense to take care of itself, u know, defense that can take a punch and that can kill stuff.

Red alert 2: Yuri's revenge has that shield thingie for your buildings, that helps if u know where they will fire at.

I usually turn the special weapons off (i play vs the cpu) cause they are a bitch. And cause i like to go against multiple cpu's at the same time and getting 5 nukes up your ass hurts.
