note: on all maps, the water is some sort of thin layer. You cant shoot through the water surface. You can shoot under water and above the water but not through the water surface. On some maps the water is used to created window like walls. You can see through them but not shoot through them. Trying to shoot those walls is a kickable offense. Shooting over any wall is. If it looks like it wasnt intended for shooting over, dont shoot over it.

So do not try to shoot over anything that wasnt meant to be shot over. But why is the wall so low then? Why not make it higher? It's because the commander likes to be able to see something. The reason why the walls are not max height is because the commander won't be able to do anything, making a rather pointless game, because they cant see.

Redstone is the key to victory. Get at least 2 redstone mines, usually one at base and at least one other. Try to keep the enemy away from redstone. The most common starting tactic in any game is: nearly all move to the nearest redstone mine outside base. The com builds a gar/sub there, close to the redstone mine and the team powermines till the com has at least lvl 2 upgrade going.

Read the chat during warm up. Look at the com drawings on the map. Normally, coms will say or mark where they want you to go and what they want you to do. If nothing is said or drawn, go to the nearest redstone mine outside base and ask the com to build a sub/gar there.
