In the beginning of the game, the humans will either garrison the stronghold mine or will rush and try to make a garrison at the south west mine. Or, if you have a very confident commander, you might garrison the beast hill and do a chemical rush, which means the the commander will research Demolition charges as soon as possible. About 5 or 6 demolition charges can take out a level one lair, so speed is of the essence.
