I have a question reference "Savage". Is there a commerical version for Linux? I have a slow (ISDN) connection that would take me approximately 8-9 hours to download the file from here.
I did see that I can purchase "Savage - The Battle For Newerth" on amazon but the package specifies windose. sad

Thanks in advance

On the original official cd?
pfew, that's like euh, pre 2.00e orso?

no, i just checked and it says 2.00 patch included on my box.
Is making copies of the original cd legal now? SInce it's free now. In that case u just need someone who can torrent the linux version for you. (not me, i s'ck at that)
do all the official patches with the autoupdater and then the sep 3+ patch might do it.

Hello!

In this thread problem with constant turning around was mentioned... I also suffer from this problem. Sometimes game starts normal (no turning), sometimes not, but when i use mouse and make fast move in some direction this constant turn around problem is triggered. Because of that i can't really play the game.

On other hand as i thought that this could be somehow connected with video driver (i used ati fglrx blob) i tried to use open source r300 driver, but here problem is lack of s3tc support. This results in white screen on start. Are there maybe possibility to disable texture compression in game?

Modify your savage script to look something like this:

Code:
cd /path/to/savage
SDL_VIDEO_X11_DGAMOUSE=0 SDL_MOUSE_RELATIVE=0 LD_LIBRARY_PATH=libs:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH ./silverback.bin

Modify your savage script to look something like this:

Code:
cd /path/to/savage
SDL_VIDEO_X11_DGAMOUSE=0 SDL_MOUSE_RELATIVE=0 LD_LIBRARY_PATH=libs:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH ./silverback.bin

Thanks!
This works... I have another question then. smiley
I have ati graphic card, i tried to use open source radeon driver (r300 chip) but there is no support for s3tc compression, but in game detect that there should be support for them which is not true. As a result i see only white screen after run and bunch of warnings about problems with texture compression in debug log. Is this possible to disable texture compression? On fglrx driver everything works ok, but i would prefer to use open source driver...

Hello.

I have been trying to figure out how to play Savage on Linux.

After a few days of frustration trying to figure this out, I thought that I should rather post this here Tongue.

When I run the Savage script, I just get the System_Init() output, the game loads ... and crashes after a few seconds.

If I try to run silverback.bin, I get the same crash as with the script, but with an error output on console, complaining about libs:

Code:
./silverback.bin: /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8: no version information available (required by ./silverback.bin)
./silverback.bin: /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8: no version information available (required by ./silverback.bin)
./silverback.bin: /usr/lib/libpng12.so.0: no version information available (required by ./silverback.bin)
./silverback.bin: /usr/lib/libcurl.so.3: no version information available (required by ./silverback.bin)
System_Init()

I think this is not a big issue, since the script points to the libs library on the directory, so its better to run the script.

I added my debug.log file as an attachment (rename it back to .log).

EDIT: I noticed that adding the log as an attachment wasn't a good idea Tongue ... will fix it when I get to my home comp. (I just didn't want to stretch my post with some log with info that is useless to anyone but those who are willing to help me.)

Thanks,
Gudmundur.
