Goes through the auto-update fine, enters game, goes to the initializing screen, and then the game just crashes. This is the problem message I get. Just started today, client worked last time i went on (a week ago?) and as far as I can tell I haven't changed anything since.

I had pretty much the same problem as you! I tried everything reinstalled the game, made sure the game was up to date and all resolutions were okay, I also tried to run it in administrator and booted it in 640x480 that still all didn't help...
 Angry
All I did was check my house to be fair.. I flicked the power switch to reboot my house and still nothing....

But at the end of all this.... The solution....

Make sure all your windows are closed and your fridge isn't open! It worked for me!!  Afro

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,

In theory, if something stops working just like that, you should try and figure out what changed since the last time it worked. New programs or updates or drivers installed, OS errors/restores, etc.

As far as I can remember there's been nothing changed. I tried re-installing too and that also didn't work.

General advice:

1)  downgrade graphic card- driver to an earlier version

2) Try running sav in compitability mode for all the different versions of your OS you can.

3) running as administator

4) disable anti-virus when running the game

id really like to help. but not being able to reproduce the error makes things kinda hard. if the initialization screen is causing the problem maybe try to bypass it by setting the corresponding variables (dont remember which, maybe someone knows) to skip it per default in the autoexec.cfg file.

to figure out if it really is the initialization screen that is causing the problem you could try opening the map editor since there is no initialization screen. if it still crashes something else is wrong and you can disregard what i wrote above.

maybe due to a recent system update some library needed by savage xr was updated and is no longer compatible with the savage xr executable.

use
Code:
otool -L insertPathOfExecutableHere
to list libraries needed by the executable.

usually libraries are located in /usr/local/lib as far as i remember. check if the needed libraries are installed or are contained within the Savage XR mac application container. if not use brew to install them.

No idea why you would want to play Savage on Mac OS. Get yourself a VM and install Windows on it.

I, too, have been experiencing immediate crashes. I'm not a fan of the 'just run it in a VM' answer, since if the OSX option exists, it should actually work.

As far as I can tell, Savage XR has some kind of permissions problem. Something the app is trying to do is outside of its appropriate permissions. When I get a chance, I'll create a new user profile and see if it runs in there, but that seems like a silly way to deal with that.

Tbh, the current OSX option is bugged that's why it shouldn't exist in the first place.

It's just a permissions issue for most users - I did a quick and painless restart after moving it to my desktop, and now it runs just fine. The one in Applications still refuses to open, but I'm not too concerned.

As an aside, what bugs? It runs like a dream on my computer. Smooth, no issues whatsoever.

Would you be so kind as to write a short step-by-step how to for Mac users with similar problems so i can pin it? Thank you!

Just an update, the way I ended up getting savage to run was by updating my software, which I had put off for a while. Not sure why it fixed things but I could enter savage again after that.
