Be a Commander or a Warror - RTS meets FPS

Savage: The Battle for Newerth is a science fiction game released by S2 Games on September 9th, 2003. It was a first of its kind; described by S2 as a real-time-strategy-shooter (RTSS). It brought together real-time strategy, first-person shooting, and third-person melee action into one cohesive experience. Set in a distant future when mankind has rebuilt society following an apocalypse, but is threatened by intelligent beasts, players must choose a side, elect their commander (RTS), and go to war (FPS). In 2006 Savage became freeware and its source code was made available to the public. One year later, a handful of dedicated players and modders began work on Savage XR, a project intended to update and overhaul the original game. Now after seven years of development Savage XR is finished and available for free to the public.

XR breathes new life into a game that has held its own for a decade. New features include: in game tutorials, duel practice mode against Python based AI-bots and game-play demos, 500 new props, wide screen support and alternative FOVs, triggers and particle effects, improved models and textures, physics engine supporting realistic collisions, unique items for all competitive clans, a simpler user-friendly installer and automatic game updater, and more. Savage XR is awesome and free!

awesome! if i had never played savage in my life and would see this, i'd definetly give it a try!
700px looks best imo, 1200px variant is maybe a bit too big.

For Newerth 700px looks best, but I made different versions so people can pick the width that fits best to the forum where they promote Savage XR.

Yes. You do a really nice job Tirza, you deserve more credits for your job! It's not as easy to notice your work, compared to the devs work, for players in-game. But i'm quite sure the game would have been dead by now if it wasn't for you. Thank you alot  Smiley

Best trailer to advertise Savage to date.  I agree that it's definitely got the vibe to make you want to try the game out if your already into the RTS or FPS games/genres.

The sound clips of Savage voices and the background trailer music matched up to some of the clips of iconic/memorable Savage gameplay (dem behemoth and ballista + catapult siege rushes!) really hit home at some parts -- great work at making those fast transitions between the brief video clips and keeping the pace in time with the music and text.  That's a quality game trailer, it's so good I'll bet it'll even start to get comments down the road of 'Man!  Trailer was so good, game is nothing like the trailer tho! Damn!!  Wish it was like the trailer all the time!'  Tongue

The ending/outro is outstanding too -- zooming out like that with the human and beasts units in the foreground and even human and beast bases in the background on the left/right respectively is such a great scene.  The ending text that flashes by reinforcing the message about the game being non-profit, run by volunteers, fan-supported and where to go to download the game close out the trailer nicely.

This is the video I'll be using to share with any buddies I think would like this game.

(The thumbnail/static image your telling Youtube to use for the video at the moment is a great pick too)

Too bad the music in this trailer doesn't play in-game during actual epic large attacks/defenses.  Tongue

I would offer the suggestion of including something extra in your first post (or re-wording it slightly) if your planning to have this thread be the go-to place/stickied resource for people to grab a template format for advertising Savage XR on other forums); at the start of your opening post have a list of clickable links to the individual posts for the different template sizes.  It'll make it a little more easy to understand (for those stumbling upon the thread while browsing the forum, and those who bother reading the OP in any thread) why there are several posts in a row with slightly larger graphics but roughly the same content to someone skimming through.  It might also give folks a more easy bee-line to the template size they want to use if they already know what they want.

Perhaps something like this:
