Rohezal: please tell me in what format do you want me to export the units using my Max9. I'd have to warn you that pretty much everything except .max makes the rigging (vertex linking to bones) be lost.

Also, after importing the models, what you get is a completly uneditable mesh. You won't be able to fix any spikes, unlinked vertices, streched polys or w/e. Smiley Not to mention animations are surely in a different format in Sav2.

Hi Daemon is the format max between vers9 and vers8 compatible?

Is there a reason why everything is not editable? I thought when its in 3DS it is normal vertex  data.
Why is the animation when it is converted to the 3ds format?

I got a K2 export for 3ds max.

My idea was: Silverback -> importer -> 3d studio max -> savage 2 exporter -> K2

I dont think you will be able to read a Max 9 file in Max 8.
You should maybe consider exchanging the files in either the collada or fbx format.

Nope, I don't know why, but Autodesk decided that you cannot open up files made on newer versions of Max with older versions of Max. So if I made a file on my sparkling nice 3DSMax 2010, you won't be able to open it on your dusty brown 3DS Max 8 or 9, or even 2008 or 2009. Even though there's like, BARELY any difference between the versions, you can't do it. (The same problem forced me to create my animations and models only at the campus for a while)

So can someone please convert the models (human models and 3 clay buildings + the clay jar model) in the collada or in the fbx format?

If it takes too long or there to much problems I will try to get an other 3ds max version.

I'm assuming that, http://www.newerth.com/smf/index.php/topic,7143.0.html, is a mod that takes Savage 2 files and coverts them into Savage 1 files?

No, it allows you to convert savage 1 texture files to readable formats like PNG or TGA.

With large amounts of loss in the conversion process.
