Trigardon and I have taken the time to write detailed explanations and guides to help jump-start new modders. While the tutorial isn't 100% done, it's at about 90% and already quite substancial help - as such we'll release it and simply add things one by one.

I was thinking of copy-pasting it into a forum post, but the size of that thing is unbelievable.
Also, the forum tells me "The message exceeds the maximum allowed length of 20000 characters). Hehe.

As such, the tutorial is available as download (don't worry, it's tiny in file size, as it's just text).


For any further questions, there are multiple forum threads and IRC available.

How do I edit the .model files? Apparently it doesnt work in the newest versions and I can't find 9 or 2008 anywhere

You have to install the XR plugin for 3DS Max. (You've got PM!)

Don't forget checking "Weld vertices" before you import stuff, mostly when it's about original .models.


You export them the same way. Takes some doing in getting used to how .models work but you'll get it Tongue.
