sv_minVotePercent is set very low on XR servers by default (33%). This means that only 33% of the "voting public" must vote for a result to be computed. I've set this to 60% for XR 1.0 defaults, and I recommend you likewise set it in the upper 40% somewhere.

As an example, for an impeach commander vote (requires 51% to pass) with 25 people on the team:

[25 * .33] => [8 * .51] => minimum of 5 people on the team all voting yes (5-0) will impeach a commander. This is confusing people, and also causing votes to finish too quickly. If you have 5 unhappy people all vote yes very quickly the vote will disappear before people with higher ping even see it.

In a similar scenario with a server of only 25 people, a mute vote will pass if 6 people vote yes quickly, or 7-1, etc. On the other side of the coin, the critical mass to pass a vote is much higher, and Savage server does not account for afk players, so passing a vote may be difficult in some scenarios. This is why I've set it to 60% and not 75% or higher.

Thus, my recommendation is to set sv_minVotePercent to .6 or around that number (+/- .05).

That isnt going to solve the problem. Its not that the vote just quickly passes or fails. It will occasionally quickly disapear without failing or passing and says nothing in console as well. This is a seperate issue.

It is going to solve a lot of the common problem. The one you are talking about is a condition called "pre-passing", which is a special case that Uttar put in that will pass a vote if enough people hit F1 before the vote is done with precheck status (10s wait period after vote is requested). You can essentially disable this by setting sv_voteprecheckpass to 1.0 (i.e., 100% voting public required).

Also, I've never seen a vote disappear without a pass/fail.

F3 / F4 doesn't work?

I've changed these settings on leet pub with bu's help.

I have to admit, one of the two settings involved seems extremely pointless.

no im not retarded. Its a common problem right now that only popped up with XR server. Votes do not pass or fail they just disapear before they're done.

I'm not saying that! Sometimes I just accidentally press F3 which hides that stuff (unbound that thingy last time tbh) and I'm like WTF also tongue.

Weird thing is, that actually never happened to me / never saw that bug coming up shocked

That bug happened to me a few times  usually when I vote for a random map.

i shoulda jus posted here, anyways yes, i also noticed several votes (more than once) just seem to disappear w/o a vote passed or failed msg showing. Also there was several maps where we sat in warm-up mode for 10 mins or longer just because we couldnt get a commander, or nextmap vote. I think this is probably cause we had more in afk/spec than actually playing. all of this=no gg's tonight

I noticed it too, and if you watch closely all votes are cutting off at 10 seconds remaining.

JmZ (or slash), when you read this, setsave sv_voteprechecktime 0

Actually I think the change works well, but losing 10 seconds so people don't have a chance to vote isn't helping. Extending vote times might also help. People have to learn that not voting isn't an option anymore.

but see thats the thing, most days there is a high level of newbie's joining, since its a free game and all... and if they set in warm-up mode jus killing each other, they aren't gonna want to play the game anymore? or at least on this server. Set it back to the way it was imo...mellee is hard enough to learn lets make voting easy!  cheesy

if anything figure out a way to lock specs out of voting, and allow just the people actually playing have the votes that count. p.s. I have no knowledge of computer code and dont know if this is even possible...hehe

my issue is that sometimes the f1 & f2 button seem to be changed. I press f1, and see in the chatbox that i voted f2. I stoped checking in the options if something is changed - it isnt. Also reentered a few times in the config for yes the f1 button, didnt helped at all!

I had this happen once. Redbinding them fixed the issue immediatly though.
