1  Savage XR / General Savage XR Discussion / Re: Is there still an Australian community? Post here! on: January 21, 2013, 10:28:07 am
We will be approaching internode to host for Savage: Rebirth soon. Although I can't mention that on these forums so I umm mean... hey guys fu.
2  Off Topic / Other Games / Re: Report: XR 1.0 Feedback (Bugs and Issues) on: November 21, 2012, 04:29:33 pm
You guys just don't get it do you? Get a hold of yourselves. And learn to comprehend a basic post. I wasn't talking about you attacking SR. I don't care about that, it makes me laugh. I am talking about you attacking YOUR community. I see it over and over again.

And nothing was stolen. Some stuff just hadn't been replaced yet. And you don't own XR. I can't even get my head around what you guys go on about half the time, it is just silly and pointless. You think because you make these claims people aren't going to play SR?

And I wasn't meaning to hijack this thread to advertise SR. Get a clue. If I was to advertise SR I would be doing it when it is ready, not on here (everyone will get sick of being abused anyway) and properly to get an actual player base.

We have facts on our side, we just don't present them because it would show how incompetent you all are and why we left. I joined the XR team to make Savage, not Savage mutilated with a lot of mods and for people to rip out months of work just because they couldn't get their build working.

Lastly, and as the last thing I say because I know your replies will be turning it around into another circle of the same old crap you try to throw at us, we know what we are doing. We have a plan and we will stick to it until things are ready. We don't fix problems by adding new features that aren't used. And we value our community instead of abusing them (or telling them they are hacking just because they happen to be on a mac).

Have a good day. I hope you can learn to act half professional some time soon.

You know. We are working really hard to make core savage again with SR. We want to bring it back to its roots. And doing so to bring over the crowd and have some nice populated servers. We haven't even started trying to do that but the way you all act, very immaturely and arrogant, we see more and more people contact us on where we are. You all need to grow up.

And we didn't steal. But keep that stance, I'm sure adding that to the end of your posts that attack people on this forum, even the ones who just want Savage to be played for years - so they will offer hosting wherever they can out of their own pocket, will make you superior to the other guys (the ones who "stole") who act professionally and work together like a real indie team and support anyone who comes their way. Keep that up buddy.

We just hope that all your bullying and abusing of the community and bringing out buggy builds won't scare everyone away before we are ready to start marketing. So please, tone it down a little and stop abusing anyone who doesn't agree with you.
4  Savage XR / Server Forum / Re: Ban Mistress? on: April 24, 2012, 05:17:48 pm
Biggeruniverse: you shouldn't post pictures of girls, let alone young ones, in pictures with misdemeaning captions. I know you're a troll and all that, but Mistress might just put us all in the same basket. For instance, will she be insulted by us leaving that useless picture of yours, or by us removing it... since it features models of female gender. Not to mention she might start calling us "pedos" too.
Just for the record. It more looks like the admins here are trolling their users... just sayin'.

Pre-beta Version 1.2.20

This version brings the start of the new python UI being implemented properly. Commander UI is next and will bring a streamlined UI to keep commanders in the action more. Once done we expect it to be playable enough to start filling servers over the new year. Like each release this one is smoother than the last with various optimizations. Also the stats systems have come to the top of the list, prepare to have clansavage back with more modern tracking  to the standard as seen in competitive titles such as Quake Live.

- Tower/spire aim has been fixed
- Research events trigger sounds again (New item available! etc)
- The "Goodbye" VC is working
- State timers for constant effects no longer throw an exception causing problems
- Crosshair is now more correctly positioned
- Aiming ranged weapons has been improved
- Incinerator's effect on sacrifice has been fixed
- Mini-map now has FoW again
- Monkits & ballista shot trails always originate from the correct place now
- Sacrificed no longer explodes when the carrying player dies
- AI pathfinding and general logic fixes
- Destroying a building under construction no longer confuses workers
- Login/logout now work properly
- Workers will now move out of the way when pushed
- Python-based referee commands
- Binds return!
- New UI theming
- New loading screen
- /kill no longer subtracts from sacrifices stat
- Landmines explode after 250ms

Are all those players seen on the 3 different servers real? When I test Rebirth once in a while there is noone around, lucky to see even one server online. That's why I mainly check things with "devworld eden2" through console
That image was a photoshop from our designer. The next release brings it close to looking like that minus the actual list being buggy, most other things are done for the new UI.

Here is the new loading screen.

What micro transactions usually do is give you a temporary boost that makes you gain an advantage over players for a couple of days.

like.. with a better gun, more experience - that sorts of stuff.

in other words, pay to to gain advantages is what i am against.
Yeah definately. It is just a bad way to go about it and makes consumers unhappy. Some games don't alter gameplay with changes however, HoN didn't used to until they decided to just milk it until a better game comes out and added stuff like the early access heroes.

Micro transactions are where online games are going and it will start to be done right. When the industry sees the affects of it done properly hopefully less games will do it so poorly.

A good duscussion from some experts is here...

I think you will find it is you who is being naive. Because you don't like them on the games you have played you assume they are evil. Companies can get plenty of profit doing it the way I said, actually more. Just because something has a higher price tag doesn't mean it will make more.

You are assuming all games have ingame benefits from them which is just ridiculous when there are a lot of games that are just cosmetic.

Classic example of people not liking change. Reason why this game is so dead as well Smiley

Not true. It is just done wrong. I have yet to see it done right. HoN would be ok if they just had silver coins, reduced prices by at least 50% and got rid of their early access crap. Micro Transactions whould do a few things.

Firstly they shouldn't change gameplay unless it is designed in a certain way to make new players follow a certain path until they unlock their first few items, then have it all even.

Secondly they should be luxurary things. They should be for those people who want to give back to the company or have money to spare for a pretty hat.

Thirdly they shouldn't be shoved down the players throat, like Zynga does with their games.

So for example, a model that could possibly work with Savage (if we had the people and hours to create the assets and infrastruture). When creating an account you get to customize your physical appearance. Different hair for a nomad etc. A few assets and colours to pick. Then have a coin system which can be used to unlock more assets. Make it so coins are earnt on every match for certain things and balance it out so that an average player will get enough coins to unlock say if they play 4 matches. Make it get longer a little as you go, people like to aim for stuff. But not too much like so many other games. Next, give people the option to purchase coins. But make it something like $5 for a substantial amount (say around the amount of 1 month of player a few hours a day).

This stuff would have 0 affect on gameplay however it would bring in some revenue. Add in some other small techniques and if the game was popular you would be able to substain it with a few full time developers.

However, every game I have played that uses micro transactions does something wrong, usually making people who don't pay at a big disadvantage or buying coins is a fairly big cost.

I do wonder how Diablo3 will go with their micro transaction system.
