So if he has 5k red and tech 3 and lego and only one weapon tree, then i can whine?
omg... you can't say stuff like that in general. on some maps you really need a lot spare for forward subs/garrs which can't be protected properly due to the map design; here you might want to keep some spare stone for multiple retries.
sometimes a comm just wants people to use certain weapons because he thinks they are good on this specific map; ofc this is not very wise since most players are no all-round talents and have problems with the one or other weapon.

anyways, try asking the comm politely if there is a thought behind his saving and you'll most certainly either get an answer or the comm will hurry up using the stone wink

little question, why do some coms let redstone pile up in the beginning of the game?

Sometimes during a dgame - especially in games with 64+ players - the com gest a fast reserve of stone.  Having com'd a bit, I can understand that this wealth is actually hard to spend.  Let me explain:

You can only research and build so fast.  Each building can only do 1 thing at a time.  So, you might have 5 buildings up, be building another 2, so the max you can expect to see is really 5 things being done at once.  Add to that the confusion of combat, 10 workers (at best), and 2-3 team members building it's entirely possible to have 3-5K not being used.

The newb cry of 'build something' is often annoying at this point.

Rightfully so, if the game is 30 min in with a 5K reserve and only 1 tech tree - somethings not right.  Use you judgement, give your com a break, and point it out if you have too.

One last thought - some com's forget things.  I know, I do.  It's okay to remind them.

thx for redstone related comment Smiley, after loosing several games cause the com gets this or that too slow while we had enough red to build it and such, it's kinda hard to get into his view. I was getting pretty frustated cause of it sometimes, but i know it's not needed and that there are good reasons for it. I kinda just needed other ppl to give me the reasons as well, so i can happily enjoy the game again.

and Uruk Hai, maybe some more on buffs is needed. Yesterday some fag called impeach against a good com (com didnt get impeached, but still) cause the com didnt want to put buffs on auto. maybe u could add something like 'dont whine for buffs, they are a bonus. ALot of good coms dont put buffs on auto and it's their full right to do so. If u cant play without buffs, go play on some other server. Buffs can turn the battle by destroying gates, enemy tech, 1 pred killing 10 incoming lego's and are not ment to let newbs kill a skilled opponent in 1 vs 1 combat. A higly skilled opponent can own your ass, buffs or no buffs. Chances are that u ll never get buffed by your com and he has good reasons for that. If u increase in skill and reputation and listen to your com well, your chances of getting buffed are increased.' Something like that.

If you cant use stone fast enough your doing something wrong (or not optimal.).

no, actually Taggi is wrong.

there are situations where you have all workers building and still too much stone. However, if you decide to go offensive all of a sudden(a.k.a. getting a near sub or garisson) the usual response of players is: hey fuck this mining, I want action. Thus leaving you with 0 stone income whatsoever, because you have all your workers building.(for example it takes a long time for a worker on it's own to complete a tower)

In my opinion it's a wise choice while powermining to secure a second or third mine or keep some spare stone in case you suddenly have a lot to research(like level 2 sh being completed --> lvl 2 weapon 300 stone, savage 600 stone, shield tower 250 stone, siege workshop 800 stone totals 1950 stone)

When you have allready reached lvl 2 and are in the process of either still researching savage or completing siege workshop with sufficient stone(2000) you should get an offensive sub / gar.

However(big however) there can be a lot of other stuff happening. The best tip is usually to let the refs decide of a commander is doing their job, they know best. Someone without a tag can still be a good commander.

Its not completely pointless to mine gold, its only good at the end of the game if you have about 5 idle non-sensor/repair workers and even then its limited. I think new maps should have gold mines removed to reduce the effect of new comms.

at the end of the game it can be usefull - e.g. if u wanna start a surprise siege rush or u need to really push the enemy back with lots of saccing and/or behe train - it is usefull to have enough gold, so u can keep the rush up. nothing more frustating than not enough ballis spawning (or sth else) caused by lack of gold
but as Voldo said - make it at the end of game...
because it's not: "i don't mine gold - i am a pro comm!"  wink

further down the game, what else is there for workers? beside hiding somewhere for scouting purposes.
If u got 5 idle workers standing next to a gold mine, might as well let them mine, no? If i com (which i rarely do, cuase my mom doesnt understand the whole concept of playing with other ppl) i usually let em mine gold if i cant think of something else for them atm, if there is gold nearby.
They can stand there scratching their nuts when the game is won Smiley.

How about adding:
"dont ask for cata if your team doesnt have much redstone or money"
Catas are usually a way for teams to lose money, noobs tend to take it and dont even know how to use it.

I usually dont build catas except if i have lots of resources and the map needs it.
