So, this is the second time this has happened to me.

Savage will not boot, stating the attached error message.

A reinstall and restart fixed it before, and I'm hoping it will again now.

Any ideas?

Fixed: Add-ons, like Stack-o-Meter can now be added.

I have a question.. How do you add these add on items, specially when they are in .exe files or installers for windows.. is there a special way to unpack it and overwrite the internal savage folder inside of the .app of savage??

Thanks for any help Cheesy

You can access the game folder by following this path.

Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Savage/game.

All of the mods/add-ons are added into the game folder in one way or another.

We used an app called cider and put the savage XR into there (minus the auto updater) and have been running manual updates through windows and then rewriting the app every time there is an update. Once I'm finished rewriting the auto updater in apple script i intend to get server permissions for the updater and then integrate it into the cider app (hopefully making it public)

The autoupdater was written to be portable and just need a dedicated mac maintainer to compile it up in xcode, like the rest of xr (the projects for all of xr on the mac where setup and were working a while back but are now out of date). Once we have a maintainer then you mac guys could run native xr without cider Smiley

Until then I'm afraid I don't really have time to explain how the autoupdater works and don't see the point in replicating it in a mac script when the current executable can be compiled natively for macs.

If any1 is interested in becoming the xr mac maintainer you'll need to have a firm grasp of c/c++ and xcode. Pm me Smiley

Tested this on the following systems :

15" MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz with Mac OS X 10.5.5
Mac Mini 1.83 GHz with Mac OS X 10.5.5

The game did NOT run on the Mac Mini, it quits with the following error message :

Exception raised : Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x0000000c at adress 0X00447cf9. Do you wish to debug it?

IMO this is due to the fact that Cider (the utility which was used to bundle this version for the mac) does not support the Mac Mini's builtin graphics chipset. The game most probably wont work on any white MacBook models and intel Mac Mini models.

Thought you'd like to know.

YES! I've been working on this error, it seems to come up whenever the port savage uses to find servers is blocked. In other words, something is blocking savage from reading the server list. (IE. anti virus software, http firewalls or even a port forwarded to the wrong place).

Advise:
Try starting savage up
CMD + tap
DISCONNECT from the internet
Click "play"
CMD + Tab
RECONNECT to the internet
CMD + Tab
Click refresh and play

I bought a Mac Mini just a few weeks ago, and SFE works beautifully! So does XR. I get 45-55 FPS on high populated servers. So it's all good. I get 75-100 FPS on my iMac.

Under what settings are you getting 50ish FPS on?

No, I haven't set up boot camp yet. I would rather just buy a pc. But whatever.

I have been using Crawford's XR for Intel Macs. There seems to be quite a number of problems with his version. I can state the problems later when I find more. I am using medium settings in the SFE* version. I can't get any higher than 15 FPS using XR. Same thing with my iMac using XR. The resolution is horrid, and when I want to switch GUI's in the Rmod, the whole screen turns black. Also I had a problem where when I was trying to connect to a sever, it would get stuck loading this: /gui/enliven//gui/standard/enemy-healer-officer.s2g
Same problem as you Cutter.

All in all I would rather just use SFE* right now since Crawford's XR isn't the official one. Or is it?  shocked

Mac Mini:
Leopard version 10.5.7
2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB 1067 Mhz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce 9400
VRAM 256 MB
Memory: 4 GB

I am also using a terabyte as a secondary hard drive

So yeah, I think Snow Leopard killed this version.
