Thanks for these download links guys. I'm trying to setup a Linux dedicated server but am having some problems.

I've downloaded the Linux client file to my server (I only have remote access).

I've un gziped it.

I'm running the install but it says that it doesn't have permission to write to the directory I've told it to install to. I've chmodded all related directories to 777 but it still gives me the "no write permission message".

Does anyone have any ideas of what could be causing this?

Can you post the out put for ls -al for the savage dir you installed too and the home dir where the ~/.savage folder can be found?

Maybe post the debug log which can be found in ~/.savage folder so i can see what is going wrong

Also did you recusively chmod the savage dir? chmod -R 777 <savage_dir>

I've chmodded the install directory to 777.

Here's what I get when I try to install-

Do you agree with the license? [Y/n] Y
Please enter the installation path [/root/games/Savage] /home/ftpuser/savage
Do you want to install symbolic links to a directory in your path? [Y/n] Y
Please enter the path in which to create the symbolic links [/usr/local/bin]
Install Savage Linux Client? [Y/n/?] n
Do you want to install desktop items? [Y/n] n
Installing to /home/ftpuser/savage
108856 MB available, 1 MB will be installed.

Continue install? [Y/n] Y
./INSTALL.linux: line 53:  5441 Segmentation fault      "$setup" $*
The setup program seems to have failed on x86/glibc-2.1

Please contact Loki Technical Support at support@lokigames.com
The program returned an error code (1)
linux:/home/ftpuser #

I can't find any output file...there's only a "eula.txt" fine in the directory I'm trying to install to. It's empty.

Here's what I get from ls- al:

linux:/home/ftpuser/savage # ls -al
total 0
drwxrwxrwx  2 root    root  72 Aug 11 22:22 .
drwxrwxrwx  5 ftpuser root 208 Aug 11 22:12 ..
-rwxrwxrwx  1 root    root   0 Aug 12 13:02 eula.txt

Thanks for helping me, I really want to set this server up

What file are you using to install the server with?

You should be using http://www.notforidiots.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=686 SEP files

Get the common files and untar them to a dir.

http://www.notforidiots.com/2F/SEP2F-Server-Common.zip

Then untar over the top that folder http://www.notforidiots.com/2F/SEP2F-Server-Linux.tar.gz

and start the ./sep_dedicated.sh

Thanks

OK, I'm now trying to run it as a user called "savage".

The files are in it's directory.

I keep getting a permission denied error though when I try to initiate the server. Any ideas?

I am getting really confused now.

Do I even need the Savage linux client to setup the dedicated server? Am I supposed to have them installed?

Or do I just need the 2 files from SEP (Common files for server, and then Linux files for server?)

If it's the second one, I am still getting the permission denied error and I have tried copying everything over again.

If it's the first, I'm back to base 1 as I still can't install it.

I'll put that dmg file in my "never-gets-deleted-folder"  evil so once it goes down we'll have it to host it somewhere else

You dont need the linux client just the two files I mentioned delete everything you have done and reinstall from a fresh folder and user.

OK I've got the server setup.

I havn't changed any files yet.

The server isn't showing up in the server browser. I can connect to it via IP though.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

server might be online for 24 hours before it will come in the serverlist..
after that you can complain on the s2games forum evil
(atm waiting for my replay server and my public server to come back into the serverlist  undecided)
