Newerth Savage League - Season Five is Over!

13 clans participated in Season Five of the NSL, 13 weeks of matches were played, and in the year 2013, the one clan to take home the title of first place goes to

FOX. Arriving on top of the ladder with a total 31 points, 10 wins and 2 ties, with 0 losses out of a total of 13 matches played!

Newerth Duel Competition Season 5

Feathers welcomes you to participate in the fifth Duel Competition. It is a group staged tournament which ends with a single elimination finals. There will be a HvH tournament following the same structure. And hopefully a US tournament will be running too.

EvO servers will become Groentjuh's UK servers

A long time ago, before Newerth was founded, a new server appeared: The Evolved Server. It appeared at the time SEP was just born and the tiny /Linux/ server was the server play on. This UK based dedicated server owned by Django, brought a very powerful new server in the community.

It didn't take long for the community to change that server into the place to play, chat and enjoy savage. A whole community formed around these servers and the website of the evolved servers. The fact that this community was based around a server owned by one clan and the community website was that clan's website did not work well. Some people refused to help that community because it was owned by a clan. To resolve that issue, Newerth was formed!

Since then a lot has happened. This is a list of a few things that happened (while trying not to list the complete history of newerth):

several huge improvement were developed and released as various versions of SEP, SFE.
The community donated to buy the server, we currently still use.
The RIAA took down the server.
That 'other' Savage came and went. Two server were hosted for that 'other' savage as well.
The Evo server were the first to be XR server.
Dozens of minor or bigger down-time due to mostly hard disk breaking.
and DJ got drunk, sick, was bankrupt, which all was a reason for the servers to be taken down...

During the server's peak time, Evolved hosted two big servers, which were populated by over 120 players. Sadly nowadays they are lucky to have just a few players on their servers.

Django recently has talked with me, and asked me if I would be willing to change EvO's server, which nobody seems to care for anymore, into the UK version of the populated Groentjuh's server. This would combine UK's better connectivity with Groentjuh's server settings, making a far more enjoyable place within savage.

During the next few weeks, a lot will be done to achieve that. Evo's Match servers will become Groentjuh's Matches #4 and #5. They will be added as official servers for the currently ongoing NSL. EvO's duel server will become "Martial Arts UK"! Not all plans how to convert EvO's servers are not finalized, but you can imagine a lot will have to be done to do that!

Plans to also maintain and manage the US leet servers are also in the making. Changing those servers will require a very different approach! Possibly in several months there will be more news about that.
